Of course there isn't. It's an anthology there's no way to have an underlying theme but it is a collection of the best work that the greatest guitarist of all time ever created. Therefore, at least in my opinion, it surpasses "good".

Duane's only downfall is lack of material. Only the good die young.

Duane has more material than you can expect from any who died that young

A lot of it is studio work where his guitar plays second fiddle to something else, usually vocals.

My favorite Duane stuff (obv aside from Filmore East) is the 2 jams off the Layla 25th Anniversary box set. I wish those went on forever.

This is a plus to me, at least in terms of his musical ability. Duane wasn't trying to show off or override the composition, he added what was tasteful and improved the overall cohesiveness of the song.

Bought it this week!

ETA I still maintain that Loan Me A Dime is the best. I literally got chills from it.

If anyone reads Skydog (a must) definitely listen to the ABB and the music references that come up in the book while you are reading. It improves the experience tenfold. One of the best biographies (if not the best) I've ever read.

“I love being alive and I will be the best man I possibly can. I will take love wherever I find it and offer it to everyone who will take it. . . seek knowledge from those wiser and teach those who wish to learn from me.”

Great book. I really enjoyed the Fillmore chapter. It was interesting listening to the album while reading the author dissect each part. Gregg's book was good as well...but yeah, anthology is great way to get a taste of Duane's studio work.

No Money Down

Always like the tracks with Duane doing the vocals.

How many are out there? I think going down a slow is duane singing. Any other songs? I think the version of dimples I have is Duane singing. Although not on anthology cd.

Not many guitarist can play with taste, those that do are who I consider great. I'm never blown away by someone that can just shred, it does nothing for me. When they can phrase their playing it's just like singing with the guitar, and Duane is one of the greatest of all time because of this. Anyone can learn guitar and scales, but you can't teach phrasing, feeling and creativity.

GREAT song! Someone recommended it to me in the last month or so when I asked about Duane. I love it!

Duane surprisingly had a damn good voice. He's not Gregg obviously but not bad at all
