Agree totally.
Holy Savior Menard has lots of kids driving 30 min or more from Avoyelles parish. Been that way for years-- that is where you go if you want to go to Catholic high school. They are not recruits-- they were always going to be there.
Bottom line is that outside of a couple of schools, most privates don't recruit athletes, and in a combine-type environment they would be destroyed by the nearby publics. BUT, the kids show up for year round conditioning and what-not,and have involved parents who will follow a program if a coach just gives them one.
The better publics are that way as well-- usually a long-time coach is the linchpin. The average publics - not so much.
