So is Charlotte going to get the Hornets name back now?

I think I heard MJ said he would consider taking the name but i could be making this up.

Right now, the Bobcats sent out a survey to season ticket holders asking if they'd be interested in a name change back to Hornets. Shortly after that study is complete, they're going to do a full city survey to see if the Hornets name is worth bringing back (it is).

The Charlotte Observer is currently running a poll on its sports page asking "How strongly do you want the Hornets name back in Charlotte?"

Current results with over 5,000 votes:
78% - Extreme desire
11% - Would like, sort of
6% - Don't care
5% - Keep the Bobcats

If I had to guess, I'd say it's pretty likely Hornets will be coming back to Charlotte.

ESPN SportsNation is also running a poll asking people about Hornets vs Bobcats and at last look, over 65% of America wanted Charlotte Hornets back.

Saw on twitter it would cost about 3 million which would be worth it imo

shite I wouldn't be surprised if Stern tried to give em some kind of discount on the name change. it'd drum up some interest in Bob's Cats.

Bobcats just released a statement on Facebook because all the TV/radio/print here are asking about the Charlotte Hornets. The amazingly thought out statement goes as follows.

“We are aware of the impending change regarding the team nickname in New Orleans. We are currently in contact with the NBA and conducting our own due diligence relative to this matter. We will not have any further comment until we have completed this process.”
