Best at what? Checkers? Gin rummy? Definitely not at coordinating defenses.

I second this. Shanle can eat a bowl of dogshit for breakfast. That guy sucks. Has for years!

Are you seriously saying Gregg Williams is a bad DC?!?! He has a proven track record and brought that sorry arse Gibbs defense up to par enough to help us win a Super Bowl.

I hate how everyone gives Spags a pass because we have bad players, yet Williams gets no credit for doing a better job than Spags with the same players.

all I am going to say about this is:

There is no Lombardi Trophy on Airline Drive without Gregg Williams

I'll never say a bad word about the man because of that. My choice.

Honest question: Was the '09 Defense a result of Veteran Leadership and overachieving players, or Greg Williams coaching the hell out of them?

If the latter, how do you explain '10 and '11?

Its hard to win a superbowl every year. Shanle and Harper made some big frickin mistakes in those games and Gregg taught strip and hit before wrapping up, but we made the playoffs both times and the offense played a major role in losing one of those games.

Let's see what spags does with our brilliant leader back in the saddle again. If we can get another ballhawk somewhere on the field or some pass rush we are going back to the superbowl.

The point is Gregg's defensive scheme was blitz all night. He made some dumb decisions, but if we had 10 or 11's defense last year we might have been in the playoffs again.

I love how when this discussion comes up, people forget how anemic our offense looked at times. The only game where both units were clicking at the same time was against Tampa. Too many factors against us this year.

I hate that people still blame the offense for these problems. Yes, the offensive line was bad the first four games. Yes, Brees kind of shite the bed for four games. That being said, we were still were one of the top ranked offenses in yards and scoring this year.

If the defense could get a turnover or stop a running back on third down, the offense would have had more opportunities and could have got off the field.

This was a bad defense this year. Regardless of the coaching, circumstances, opponents, offense, special teams, economy, elections, etc.
