I had a english setter/pointer mix once. Smartest damn dog Ive ever had.

He trained very easily. Would point and hold etc. Maybe I just got a good dog. He didnt run wide radius. He naturally stayed pretty close to me so I didnt have to fight that issue.

GSP has a little more energy I believe.

Best two labs I have ever seen, my neighbor in college trained himself. He worked them 15-20 minutes everyday. Honestly I think that is the trick to having a good retriever. He didnt yell or get aggravated with his. Watched him tell his dogs to stay once, he left for the store and they didnt move until he got back and told them to go.

Ive never seen a dog professionally trained that was worth a shite though so my opinion is tainted.
