My part of Virginia is on the rise and houses are moving well. One of the benefits of being close to DC.

We are fortunate that there is also a ton of private sector and military here. Believe me though, I know what you mean about the bloated federal government. Hopefully, by the time downsizing occurred (lol) my arse will be retired and the house will be sold.

It's on the rise down here in Hampton Roads too, but still not quite at fair value. Military kept this area's real estate values fairly well after the bubble

Prices have been rising in South Florida for over 2 years now. Rents increased last year and again this year.
