re: Spartacus: War of the Damned Season Long Thread.

Just finished with it on the DVR.

Great episode. shite got real and Caesar impressed me with how intense he was and how he led his soldiers into battle.

I wonder if Tiberius will get punished for raping the his father's slave. I'm sure Crassus wouldn't appreciate his son being a rapist, no matter who his victim is. Of course, this all depends on if she reports it to Crassus and if Crassus believes her.

Only Spartacus and Gannicus can survive 20 something Roman soldiers coming at them, they had some help but they were badass enough to give time to the reinforcements to arrive and help them.

I think next week, the Rebels will still be stuck in the city and facing off against the Roman army. It will be interesting to see if they can find a way to get out and to a safe retreat.

Naevia did herself a favor by apologizing to Gannicus and she realized her mistake in killing Attius.

Can't wait until next week.

I think Crassus's g/f winds up helping the rebels. Tiberius made it clear to her that no matter what, she was a slave that could be raped at will. They said everyone, including Crassus, would be affected by this and never be the same. I bet she gets crucified.

I would be kind of surprised if this happens but...

Tiberius made it clear to her that no matter what, she was a slave that could be raped at will.

This will probably snap her back to the reality of Roman cruelty and what an abomination it is.

I have no doubt.

I'm still hoping for a Crassus and/or Caesar spinoff.

Yet, you still cheer for the Romans?

I'm with you here. This is going to suck in a few weeks when this is completely over.

Like I said, look at the Gauls and Germans, how they treated their slaves. No one had clean hands.

Then there were the wicker cages. Not all slaves were treated like Spartacus. They could and did manage finances for the master. They could marry and hold property. When they were freed, they became a client of the master. Some even married them. Cato the Censor married his. hence the prejudice towards the younger Cato.

One thing I'll miss about this show is the way they talk and choice of words.

It's unlike anything I've ever seen on TV.

Just latin converted to English. Speaking with the same syntax and subject/verb patterns you use in Latin. Thus instead of thank you they say gratitude.

I didn't know that.

I think every show and movie that is set in this time period should follow this style of language we see on Spartacus. It's really interesting.

For some reason I'm thinking the same thing. I had the thought of Kore helping Sparty and the rebels.

I posted it an article about it in the OT one time. You can probably find it there. was only a few weeks ago.

Its much easier to learn the foreign language when you see it in action like it is on Spartacus. "Oh, THAT is how they do it". But no, its all about conjugations. Ugh.

Tiberius is a typical spoiled brat. Got his men and best friend killed and refuses to accept any responsibility. If he was a real fricking commander he would have those troops of his out there in formation every day training while they waited for Crassus to recall them instead of pouting.

Just caught up.

Someone please kill off Naveia already. Even with her making nice nice with Gannicus. Im just sick of looking at her honestly.

Tiberius is gonna get a arse kicking when Crassus finds out what happened. If the chick tells. Who knows. He father wanted to show up what the world was like, and now the son is pissed off. he is a little puss for pouting about. One of those characters you just want to backhand ie. Geoffry in GOT

I think Spartacus just realized now that Crassus is not like anyone he's faced. This is a huge wake up call. IDK where they take the story from here. Spartacus has never really been defeated. How do they play out the Crixis split now that handshake happened at the end of the show? All preparation they had done with driving the wedge between them has been undone it looks like.

Was holding out hope on the three way with Gannicus' chick and the young brunette. Oh well

Great episode. I think Crassus will end up taking revenge on Tiberius for raping his slave lover. He seems to like her more than his wife.

My only problem were the ridiculous Caeser fight scenes. I counted 5-6 times where he should have been killed.

Yeah, He actually should've been seriously injured going head on with Spartacus and Gannicus before he got help and going up against Agron. He also fought against him, Donar and Saxa with a big arse axe and two knives. Donar and Saxa are just a step below the four rebel generals in terms of skill.

Caeser don't stand a chance against Crixis, Gannicus, Spartacus, or Agron 1v1

Since the beginning this show has remained true to Plutarch's account of the third servile war. The only exception is Julius Caesar. I don't understand why they threw him in the mix? Its a bit ridiculous that he would be involved at all.

Hopefully in hopes of a spin off. Which I think this board would be interested in.

why shouldn't they? There is nothing in Plutarch or Suetonius saying he didn't participate in the war.
