the SEC should do their scheduling like the NFL. If you win the conference, the next year you should have a tough schedule. At least I think that's how they do it. I realize that the SEC schedule is made in advance, but they could try something like that.

Then 2012 and 2013 reflected this for Bama, since they didn't win the conference in 2011.

So, the Bama alumni who rigged all of this is justified!

(not meant to bash Kracka's idea, which I like...just using gump logic on cheating).

There was. It was "adjusted" following the 2003 year because LSU jumped over USC, another darling like Bama and Oklahoma. That damned strength of schedule didn't give the darlings what they wanted, an Oklahoma - SC title game that year and allowed LSU to get in. The media had hyped up Oklahoma all that year and said before they lost in the Big 12 Championship game that Oklahoma would have to be in the NC game because of their quality of wins. After the loss they focused on how "USC was robbed" yet LSU did exactly what we had to do and what did we get told by the media then? Oh, it's a "split National Championship." That was the very thing that the BCS was supposed to end but they didn't like the result so they changed it.

Any chances the NCAA checks in to the "scheduling advantages"?

Absolutely no chance, if the rest of the SEC wants change it has to come from within. The Presidents and AD's have to have strong voices which apparently they don't. The only 2 coaches that have actually had the balls to voice their opinions about the inequities of the scheduling coming out of Birmingham are Spurrier and Les.

Bingo!

QUALITY WINS was removed from the overall formula bc a media darling couldn't hack it.

Ironically enough, in 2011, when another media darling needed help despite only beating THREE FBS teams with a winning record in 12 regular season games (Bama), we were blessed with the new term for helping media darlings:

Quality Loss.

Bwaaahaaa. What a joke CFB has become.

Technically speaking SOS was a seperate component of the BCS formula. That component was removed after the 2003 debacle.

HOWEVER, the computer rankings are a component of the BCS formula and most (might be all, but some of the computer formulas are proprietary) of these rankings use SOS as apart of their formula.

In short, SOS is still used in the BCS formula, it's just not a seperate component anymore.

You are correct, but it had more meaning in 2003 and before since a team was awarded an extra point in the BCS standings for beating quality teams.

We have no idea now what formulas are used for SOS since several of the computers will not release their formulas.

CFB is a farce now. Teams like Bama and ND know how to exploit the "formula" for their benefit.

Arkansas' is by far the toughest looking and Cal shouldn't be top 30, they have the gall to put those weak as teams on the list of who they need to beat... Cal is BS!!!!

PacWilly, the counter to that is that it leaves LSU with a margin of error of just one game. If Bama projects to go undefeated due to excellence/advantageous scheduling, your season is over if you lose to them. Perfection every single year as a prerequisite for the division title is a ridiculous expectation. Even if LSU beats Bama, what are the chances they go unscathed against Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and A&M? If Bama loses to LSU, what are the chances they still win the rest of their games? Still pretty good. I know we have to beat Bama. There's no getting around that, and Bama has to deal with us. The issue is that Bama doesn't have to deal with Florida, Georgia and South Carolina... and we do. I respect the chest-beating aspect of saying "frick it, we're LSU, we're not afraid of anyone, we got this." You and others like you are awesome for saying that. But those who are creating this situation are counting on you to say that. You're playing right into their hands. This isn't about who's a pussy and who's not. It's about what's logical and fair. After all LSU has accomplished in and for the SEC over the years, don't you feel a level playing field is the LEAST we deserve?

Notre Dame exploited that formula by winning all their games. LSU could have also exploited the system that way.

My point, as well as others, is this:

Give ND LSU's schedule and they "exploit" NOTHING. ND would have lost to five or six SEC teams in the same manner they lost to Bama. Anyone who follows the joke that is CFB could see what happened a few weeks ago coming. I know you get this.

In that same vain, Bama and their alumni that run the SEC also recognize this formula. Since they are "stuck" in the toughest conference, they've figured out a way to weasel themselves out of playing several more bigger games by simply rigging the schedules in their favor, while making their rivals schedules that much harder. In 2011 and 2012, BAMA PROVED they can't go unbeaten with rediculously easy schedules. So, even Bama couldn't do what "ND did". Imagine if they added UF, USCe or UGA to their regular season slate. They would face another 2010 season. Bama fans/alum/SEC officers know this...

More power to them. They know they won't be called out by the group that runs the sport (ESPN), considering they are one of the "brand" teams ESPN loves.

Not to mention Bama also now knows they have the luxury of losing the conference with a rediculously easy schedule, and will still get a second chance.

It's amazing really. They are so awesome. I don't know how they do it. That's quite a dynasty they've built for themselves, you know, with Mulligans, rigged schedules and alumni that run just about every aspect of SEC football.

Hey PacWilly:
RE:

The bottom line is that we have to beat Alabama

This is an argument that on the surface sounds good until you consider the facts which the schedules are.

If we beat Bama & lose to UF and UGA and they win all of their other "rent-a-wins" we stay home and watch them play UF or UGA or USC for the first time and if we win the West, we get to play one of those same tough teams AGAIN!!! Really??

Anyone that says that is a level playing field is flat wrong!

How they do it is really simple and the point of my post - "No one challenges the Administration of the SEC" which frankly is ridicules.

The worst thing about this is that the scheduling that comes out of the SEC affects all teams but tends to benefit one team "The Gumps." Honestly does anyone think that UF is happy that they have to play LSU every year, I promise you they are not. They know over the past 10 years it is going to be a dog fight when they play us. Does anyone think UGA was happy to see LSU on their schedule in 2013, I can promise you they aren't. And everyone knows how Spurrier and USC felt about having to play LSU last year because he made it very clear.

This is not about being afraid to play a tough schedule, this is about making sure all the teams have to play equally tough schedules so no one has a clear advantage. When the A**HOLES in the SEC schedule UK that gives them a huge advantage over the rest of the SEC teams vying for the SEC Championship. But like I said the only way it is going to change is from within. The Presidents, AD's and Coaches have to complain loudly enough to affect change or things will not change because of the bias the SEC has towards Gumpville.

You think the people above care about the fans? No.

Fans will still fork out the money, the games will still have advertisements, and the SEC will still rake in millions.

There is nothing you can do but live with it.

The SEC and national media are corrupt. It's over. They are in bed together and in too deep. That's the reality of college football for the 114 or so teams that aren't "Brand" teams. LSU isn't a big enough "brand" to warrant that type of attention/recognition/leeway. Sorry, but that's the truth.

Where was all the outrage when the schedule gave 6 or 7 SEC schools bi weeks before playing Bama a few years ago? Surely those same people in Birmingham were running things then too? It was after all, in 2009 and 2010.

If the pendulum swings and Tennessee vaults its way to the top of the SEC east where it stood for a decade? Is it still unfair?

What if Muschamp turns out to be a Ron Zook clone? Is it still unfair?
