I think they are just trying to keep people for hoarding. I do not believe that the ATF gave these "orders". Just management trying to blame somebody besides themselves.

I agree but why are they worried about who buys what...granted with the retarded people buying everything on the shelves it will sell anyway, I wouldn't want to limit people and run the risk of not selling stuff. I hope this non sense hurries and passes so shite goes back to normal

This...is a classic management move. If you tell the employee that then he is less likely to bend the rule knowing that it could be a serous offense. Also, it gives the employee something that sounds official to tell customers when they complain/gripe/curse about the limit.

I used to tell line cooks it was against Health Code to smoke between the hours of 10am-2pm and 6pm-10pm. We were short handed at the time and most of the guys were decent cooks. This way they stayed cooking during the busiest times and I didn't have to fire anyone.
