Yeah, and next week's blood bath in the gym looks like its business as usual for the FBI: Do NOT restrain violent suspects under any conditions.

Looks like they just gathered them all together and didn't handcuff, nor check them for weapons.

I am interested like passing a train wreck to see how this brilliance unfolds.

And also, as far as the cult members dying for Joe... at least in Jonestown with Reverend Jim, there was some sort of promise of eternal salvation.
These idiots are just,
Joe: "Die for me, pointlessly."
Cult lemming: "Ok."

Probably not too hard to convince someone who has just spent the past three weeks sitting around a mansion doing literally nothing but reading Edgar Allen Poe all fricking day to go on a suicide mission

re: THE FOLLOWING - Season One (***Official Thread***)

I read a couple of reviews this morning and I was happy to learn that there are more of us out there that love the plot holes.

Here is a comment from the review.

quote:

At first I was concerned that the show was actually getting better and ruining my fun. After closer examination, I am happily incorrect. The plot holes keep coming. Thankfully we didn't get more than a minute in before they stopped playing the Roderick/Weston "just missed you" game. Which leads to idiot move #1. When Roderick walks away, shoot him in the damn leg. Who would have have had a problem with that? But then we get to our continuing re-ocurring problem with this show. Apparently, if you can get 100 feet from the FBI, they can't catch you. If only they had cars and helicopters. Even Roderick knows how inept the FBI is as he thinks nothing of driving back to the compound. It's not like they would follow him. Heh.

Most of the rest of the episode makes a bit more sense until we get to the latter part of the show. Thank god Ryan Hardy decided to let his FBI friends know what he was doing this time. No one man operation this week. Although it didn't change things any. They were still outmanned at the house. Let me back up a bit. How did Joe know where the kid would be? Those 3 henchman seemed to know exactly which house the kid would be in. Wasn't that supposed to be Roderick's ace in the hole? Not very secretive.

And with all the shooting, the other FBI agents don't come running? Did the FBI run out of wires? So many questions. Gotta love the introduction of two new henchman that die in the same episode. Of course, Jacob gets the kid. They should really sign him up for the FBI. He's smarter than all of them. They can't hold onto one kid?

But the ultimate of all ridiculousness is the fact that if Jacob lets the kid go, he's somehow free. Did anyone see all the FBI agents in the background? None of them go after Jacob? And again, he gets back to the compound unfollowed? This show should be called the Unfollowing. Tee Hee

Let's back up a bit. How many times is Joe going to tell his followers to turn off the TV. They keep turning it back on. And when Claire stabs him, why did she stop? Kill the guy!!! But the best part had to be the three followers dragging her away from the stabbing. How did they know? "Hey guys. If I ever get stabbed, run in here and take Claire upstairs. Don't worry about me. I'll just put a bandage on the scar. It will heal".

Once again, the Following did not disappoint.

One other thing, when Emma said "What's wrong with you", why didn't Joe tell her that he's a serial killer. Slapping a woman is not a big deal.

We could probably get this thread published on some TV review site.

Forgot about that part. I thought the same thing. What's wrong with him? They tell you at the beginning of each episode that he was convicted in 2004 for the brutal murders of 14 women. That's what's wrong with him

The "Unfollowing".

Where is that review from?

Oh, and the last comments reminded me of another stupid thing. Emma JUST gets finished saying she's not some sissy girl and she's down with anything and all that, and then he slaps her, and she storms out like a teenage girl. "Joe doesn't love me like Edward from Twilight!"

eta: Great minds etm

Yeah, a house full of psycho killers for sure.

They watch tv, read Poe, and play with a 7 year old boy all day(or used to).

Yep. And I keep recognizing one of the cult members each episode. I dont think he's had any lines yet but he's always there. He's the arabic one and I will refer to him as the cruise director because he seems to be in charge of TV and entertainment. Everytime Joe turns the TV off he hands this guy the remote. Or any scene where they are watching TV he is in there.

Yes. He called him by name Monday night. I forget it though, something like Darren or Dwayne or something.

He's definitely the A/V club guy of the house.

It would be so easy for 95% of these cultists to get off with no charges in the end.

"Yeah this guy Roderick talked me into joining this mysterious group so I checked it out. Went to this mansion and hung out. And then Carroll showed up and I was so scared to leave so I just sat there and read Poe and watched TV all day."

They can't even do that anymore. Joe grounded them.

at least we've moved past the point where they find something and it goes like this:

"Quoth the Raven?" wow what is that?

In comes expert profiler Ryan Hardy. He asks for a pen. Hold on. He knows he's seen this before somewhere. Raven raven raven....POE. Its Poe! Edgar Allen Poe!

Other FBI profilers stare confused.

Hardy: "Edgar Allen Poe was a poet. He wrote this! Joe is quoting him!"

And if they misbehave, he's gonna give them a stern "You need to...calm down..."

And of course we all know psychotic serial killers... if there's one thing they do, is behave.

Any mention of the awesome pained facial expressions exhibited by Joe every time something goes wrong.

This show kills me. If the real FBI is anywhere near as incompetent as the ones on the show, we can forget about catching the bombers. Do those dumbasses EVER wait for backup or call in reinforcements?

That was my biggest problem/entertainment of the week. Are you trying to tell me that a woman would calmly, and unferociously stab a guy that had kidnapped her, her son, and ruined her life by not telling her he was serial killer before they got married? There is no way that after the first blow he doesn't end up dead on the floor with 39 stab wounds. The show should have ended last night. This series really could have been good if they had limited it to 10 or so episodes.

Yes the epic garage scene from the first episode

And again to the writers, if you are playing the Poe angle, have it mean something. Have them carry out some murders from his work. Have someone entombed in a wall alive like in a Cask of Amontillado or something. Seriously, this board could fart out better story lines over lunch

And the 2 cultists come in and calmly take her upstairs, which I assume is to be grounded in her room. Nobody smacks the shite out of her(I know she is supposedly off limits per Joe), and no one tends to Joe at all.

And the rest of the house obviously is too intent in whatever tv show they're watching to notice the commotion. Probably the Bachelor finale.

They started to in first 2 episodes. But they dropped the whole Poe angle story line many episodes ago. That would have made sense, and possibly been cool.
Now, they just do the "Bumbling and/or lone wolf FBI agent" storyline. Over. And over.

It's because those Poe masks were fricking creepy, This is supposed to be a thriller show, not a horror show
