it's just best if we all resign ourselves to the fact that we need to temper our expectations for this season the rest of the way ... i thought, with this schedule, that this was maybe a 16-14/15-15 team at best .. any better than that would have just been a bonus, IMO ... this program is headed in the right direction with CJJ at the helm ..

I definitely agree we are going in the right direction. I think most basketball educated people know that. I was still hoping for a little surprise out of this team that I knew didn't have a ton of talent left at certain positions. I at least want our players to get good experience being in close games and trying to figure out how to win the close ones.

this team just doesn't seem to be able to shoot the basketball with any consistency .. if we hit 1/3 of the 3s we've missed this season so far .. we beat marquette, auburn, and south carolina -- and the season looks a lot different at that point .. we need 6'5"+ guys that can step out and knock those things down to pull defenders out of the paint ... we've done an OK job protecting the basketball for the most part this season and have caused problems with our press ... but we just don't have the depth to keep it up .. we just need to shoot the ball a lot better ... from what i just read about CJJ's first true class .. we have that in there, on paper ..

I don't see the shooting getting better this season. So that leaves the turnovers. I do think we can limit the turnovers. We have shown that we can with the Florida 7 turnover game. I think if we can keep the turnovers below 15 then we have a chance to win, especially if we can continue to force turnovers. The press was money against UGA, but we had trouble scoring off the turnovers. We must have both going. This Texas A&M game will be interesting Wednesday. I can't wait.

I'm very glad you realized I was talking about Hammink in my post.

I didn't. haha. I thought you meant Coleman. My arguement was that we needed Coleman down low. Hammink has played the 3 all season, and we will need 1 backup guard. Guards (1-3 positions) Hickey Stringer Morgan Hammink Forwards (4-5 positions) O'Bryant Del Piero Coleman Courtney With the 1 backup guard and 2 backup forwards we should be okay. Hammink will really need to step up because he will be getting some serious minutes. I'd imagine he gets between 12-15 minutes meaning each of our regular guards play 34-33 minutes, with him relieving each.

Coleman is a 3/4 to me, but he can hit from outside so if we had some bigs he would do great playing those positions. As it is now, he's forced to play much bigger guys and has a little trouble down there. I wish he was a couple of inches taller. We really need Carmouche to score. If he scores everything else works a little better.

He is definitely a 3 if we were playing what position SHOULD he be, but because the team we have he is a 4 and only a 4. We don't have anyone else, so he has to play there. In a perfect world, he plays 3 and is able to back down his defender on occasion.

I agree, but he's got the skills to play 4 vs a smaller team, but he's a 3. If we had at least 1 more big that could spell JOBIII he would play a lot more 3. Hopefully Ludwig comes back and he's not a softy anymore. hahaha
