I understand that this list is subjective and therefore arbitrary; however, I cannot understand how anybody can have a top 5 list without Billy Cannon on it.
Cannon's size and speed was impressive by today's standards. By 1950-1960 standards he an absolute aberration. If you look at Cannon's accomplishments on the field, I don't know how you keep him off of this list.

I assume that when some posters reject white athletes from the past in favor of contemporary players, they refuse to project those older players with the beneift of modern traiing , diet, weight programs etc. Billy Cannnon was a freak athlete and belongs on anyone's LSU's greatest list. As pure athletes, he and Patrick Peterson are the two that stand out in my mind.

For me,
Kevin Faulk Patrick Peterson Matt Flynn even though he gets some heat from his personal decisions (not turning it into that thread but), I have to go with Tyrann Mathieu Josh Reed
