The way it typically works is that you would file as a Louisiana resident and pay tax on your entire income. You would also file in the state you work in as a Nonresident. Louisiana, your state of residence, would then give you a credit for the amount of taxes you paid pay in the state in which you actually worked.

However, since Texas doesn't have an income, your credit is ZERO.

Basically, you're really f*cking up living in Louisiana. You're paying state taxes you wouldn't have to pay if you were living in Texas.
