Im really starting to get tired of this fanbase and their ridiculous pessimism. shite. /rant
I am generally optimistic and so wanted this team to be better than it is this year. I followed the recruitment of each new player and watched Johnny put together a last minute patchwork team. It is hard to judge talent until you actually see them perform against a quality opponent.
I gave our new players way too much credit for their abilities. At first in the games against inferior talent, they seemed to meet and even exceed my expectations. I really worried about how lack of height was going to work in the SEC rebounding wars and interior defense and it has come home to roost.
I said we would live and die by the three pointer and it has come to pass when we are not able to press and get easy layups. Johnny doesn't want to press because we are short handed. The press is our best offense because we are short handed.
Just like in the Trent days our half court sets against a zone consist of us throwing the ball around the outside and then jacking up a highly contested three. It's always something. Either we miss all our free throws, can't rebound, have outrageous turnovers or can't hit a shot.
In short, while I will still pull for the Tigers and hope this team finds their mental focus and toughness, I do not believe anymore. We just simply aren't that good. This isn't negative, it is realistic based on the games we have played so far.
Unlike some, I never expected us to be a tourney team. Maybe a chance at the NIT. But I did expect us to beat the Auburn's and South Carolina's on our schedule.

Exactly... Aubie and South Carolina needed to be wins. If u can't beat them, who's left besides Vandy and Miss St. at home ? This team will beat almost no one on the road right now. UGA is bad, but beating them right now on the road is in real doubt.
