could the execution apologists acknowledge the point?

i'm talking about the guys who make excuses for the poor coaching philosophy over the last 5 years. "if the players would have executed" everyone would know what geniuses we have running our offense.
well, yes, it is true that if you have supermen who can execute blocks perfectly every time and runners who can elude sure tackling 3/4's of the time, if the magnificent athletes execute plays to perfection anything called will work.
BUT, the point is, a fraction of a second more time that it takes for a defender to decide what he needs to do can sure do a lot to help the offense execute. So, if our play-calling is mixed up, and we don't run the same plays out of the same formation with the same personel almost every time, then the defense doesn't know what we are going to do and has to wait just a fraction before attacking, our odds for being successful go way up, dont they?
No team likes to be in 3rd and 10, because it's an obvious passing down and the defense can pretty much tee off on the pass play. In effect, our offense is so predictable that we are almost always lined up in a "3rd and 10" in terms of predictability, thus making the offense's job harder and the defense's job easier. Sometimes, we make that 3rd and 10, but isn't it just a little bit easier to execute if we keep 'em guessing?

Are you another one of our coordinator fans on here that can call every single play?

"Coach, what do you think about the execution of your team?"
"I'm in favor of it."

you can tell when lsu is going to run the ball or pass the ball over 90 per cent of the time. you can't call the exact play, although for the run you can see where it's going most of the time because we follow the fullback and tight end.
also, because of our personel, you can generally know whether it's an inside run or an outside run.
does that make any sense? With Bama, you don't know what they are going to do, because with their sets they both run and pass out of the same formations and on all downs.
You have to admit that we are somewhat predictable.

I think you're a little extreme here. Do you honestly think we're that predictable? We were 60/40 pass to run this year. Are you saying with that amount of balance that we were completely predictable?

You need to be on the sidelines coaching...

I would be in favor of the execution of certain posters.

We must pretty frickin good on offense to have the success that we do have, when opposing teams know what LSU is going to run 90% of the time.

Somewhat predictable does not =90%. Seriously, I mean all teams have certain tendencies. Watch an NFL game. "They really like to throw to XX on third down." "They really like to run XX up the middle in these situations."
All teams have tendencies, so does LSU.

sometimes, but i doubt much more than other teams.
As for excution, Have you never seen a WR drop a pass? QB miss a throw? Someone miss a block? You could have predictable play calling and poor execution at times, The 2 are not mutually exclusive.
The season is 9 months away, what would maybe you happy between now and then?

Could morons like you acknowledge that the coach is responsible for the good as well as the bad? Based on actual results, Miles is the second best coach in America. Hopefully he'll improve on any weaknesses as he surely has in the past. Oe way or the other, we are very fortunate.

This is what gets me. 0 credit when anything good happens.
"Miles is lucky because his coordinators win the games". Even saw some stupid arse say earlier that Moffitt has won games for Miles.

just as i thought - you can't admit that the coaching staff makes any difference at all.
I don't know why. I can acknowledge that execution does make a difference. in the clemson game, for instance, even though I thought it wasn't a great call to pass on 2d and short, because of the time factor, nonetheless it was not a bad call. the receiver was open and mett underthrew him. he makes the throw, we run out the clock and win the game.
I have seen this coaching staff call some good games and go against tendency with enough regularity to make the offense go. the bama game was the last really good example. Why don't we do this more often?

Got a lot of youngsters around here who were in diapers when LSU actually had LOSING seasons.
They're used to LSU winning NCs every 4 years and when it doesn't happen, by God, FIRE THE COACH!

Hell, now its becoming every year. With Saban winning 3 out 4 about half of the people on here think LSU should win the championship every single season. "We have the most talent of anyone in the country, we should have won the national championship."
Unbelievable.

Come on, people, you have to acknowledge that our offense is EXTREMELY PREDICTABLE. If you can't even bring yourself to acknowledge that, then you're just a blind Miles loyalist. Yes, Miles does a lot of good things and has won a lot of games, but our offense has underperformed the last few years and coaching is a big part of it. It doesn't make you a Miles hater or a dreaded negatiger to admit it.

How in the hell did our offense under perform last year? We won every game except the Championship and Bama by like 4 TDs.

Why? We don't try to go out and fool anyone if that's what you mean, but people aren't predicted what plays we run.

Ahh, you're one of those guys that cant tell there were problems on offense in 2011. That explains a lot from the other thread. I'll lay off with my objectivity from now on.

How about you just lay off of your trolling from now on.
