The Habs are such a fascinating team.

yeah this year. we sucked last year.

Marc Bergevin and Michel Therrien have done a remarkable job thus far. Michel may win COTY if we go deep in the playoffs.

well we are hurting right now without Rene Bourque. He should be back soon though. We just lost a good young D man Alexei Emelin. Hopefully Raphael Diaz will be back soon to take Alexei's place or we may use Tinordi from our AHL affiliate ,hamilton bulldogs.

yes, overall we have 4 lines that can come at you. We are much more physical now than in the past. Plekanecs, Mad max, ryder, Gallagher, Bourque, gionta, Markov, Subban, deharnais can all score.

Gallagher could be rookie of the year and win the calder trophy.

Lars Eller and Galchenyuck are coming along great. They both can score at crucial times and are getting better and better.

Our 4th line of grinders led by Prust has been $$$$.

Our style of D is what I love...limit all SOG. block shots. You give up too many shots and the law of averages will get you sooner or later. Price and budaj do not see much rubber. sometimes that is good and bad. but i prefer less. I want all shots blocked so price can sit back eating a snow cone.

Yes, well the caps are loaded with Ovie and Backstrom. mike Green is a good D man also.

Not to beat this drum too much, but that's pretty much the foundation of hockey's advanced stats. Corsi is essentially plus/minus for all attempted shots, and Fenwick is the same with blocked shots not counting as shots (it helps teams that block shots, as Corsi treats it as a negative event).

Because of score effects, teams go into more of a defensive shell when winning, so a favored stat for evluating a team is FENCLOSE, or the Fenwick rating when the game is within one goal. Here are the ratings for this year.

LINK

LA, Chicago, and Boston are off the charts good, though Montreal is near the league lead, with a 53.21% edge. BTW - this is Washington's Achilles heel. They have an awful FENCLOSE. Just awful. Mainly because their 3rd and 4th lines get killed on possession. The Caps are the Florida Panthers without Ovie and Backs.
