Yes, Joe is a high end prospect, no way it's a straight swap with Brenden's value and age.

I have a hard time believing it's a straight swap.

Dave Molinari ?@MolinariPG 3m
As has been reported elsewhere, Morrow has agreed to waive his NTC to join the Penguins.

Well it was awesome to watch him in Big D for 13 years. Definitely weird to see a captain get traded.

It's a better trade for the Stars going forward if it is in fact Joe for Brenden.

Good trade both ways then, Pens get leadership and experience to go with Neal and Malkin line and a 3rd round pick.

Stars get a pretty solid prospect and a 5th round pick.

Not too bad at all.

As a stars fan I see this trade as a win. No one in Dallas thought Brendan would re-sign after this year. Adding a top D prospect is a steal, some of the surprise is because many thought Shero wasn't willing to part with Joe Morrow.

As a lifelong Stars fan I wish Brendan the best.

That trade is a huge win for Stars. You got payback for the Neal trade. Joe is considered by many to be the Pens best d prospect. Wowzers. I wonder what Ribeiro could fetch.., although I don't want him traded.

Ribiero could command a big price. I think with B Morrow earning the Stars a top prospect, you're seeing how weak the market is right now.

I knew they were gonna let him walk at the end of the year, his time was over. Itll be nice to actually see a decent D in a few years if this kid pans out with Dillon and Oleksiak there too.

I'm just glad that after two deals with the penguins we may actually get one real defenseman.

Time to user in the Jamie Benn era for the Stars.

I can't get over how much I love this playoff predictor site, Leafs Chances of making the playoffs 92% with a 6th 5th or 4th seed 63%...damn if the Leafs make the playoffs I swear I will lose my shite... Oh and Baloo people in Leaf nation are starting to ask why we are paying your boy Phaneuf 6 mil a year when we are paying Kadri 800k

I wouldn't say that at all.

Morrow is a solid prospect.

When it came down to who they felt they wanted to keep and trade, Shero likes Derrick Pouliot and Olli Maatta as pro's over Morrow and parted with Morrow.

Josh Yohe ?@JoshYohe_Trib 2h
Numerous people in Pens organization have told me today that they believe Pouliot and Maatta will be better pros than Morrow.

Pens kept who they wanted, and upgraded big time for the Cup run this year.

Cannot wait to see Morrow-Malkin-Neal line next week, or if he adds depth to the 3rd line with Sutter I'd love a Morrow-Sutter-Kennedy 3rd line especially with how great of a season Sutter is having, he deserves a Morrow type on his line.

The Caps look so much better. They really seem to be buying into Oates system. The breakout looks miles better. I guess having Green and Orlov back helps that.

Bruins were the other team Morrow was deciding between, both Pens and Bruins had offers on the table for Brenden.
