This. We had them beat. Our inability to convert short yardage 3rd downs and the prevent defense at the end of the game killed us.
To me it takes an offense that can pass the ball to beat Saban. The mobile QB buys you more time. Our you can have multiple WR sets and get the ball out of the QB hands quickly.
Saban always stops the run first and makes you make plays from the QB position.

Saban recruits size, put the big defenders in space and they are more likely to fail. AKA aggies.

It's a stretch to call JJ a mobile QB. Take out a long run from each season and his average is < 3 yards a carry.
