Ellis wasn't all from the game but it did help his stock

My opinion is that the head and character of these guys is the as important, or possibly more so, than the athletic performance.

I think this- Give any 22 year old (like Ellis in 2008) a guaranteed $19.5 million and you better know if they have the drive and dedication to excel at the highest level. Someone as skilled as he could certainly perform at less than 100% and still collect the money. Hell, he has collected over $33million being on a more bad than good defense while here. If he never plays a down in his life again he is set (unless he Vince Young's it).

I have a beef that I thought deserved discussion-

You have players that outperform their draft contracts substantially (like Graham). They usually get an early long term deal to somewhat makeup in compensation (like Colston). The bad part is that when they underperform the team is in essence stuck with them cuz they don't wanna take the cap hit. There should be more recourse to deal with those who take the money and run.

good point. I hadn't thought about that..he signed well before they agreed on the new rookie wage scale.

Floyd is a player who has good character. At least according to what they have to say about him from Scouts Inc.

I guess it is all just a hit or miss type of situation. Good thing for us, Colston had another productive season. And look at what happened with Carl Nicks. He takes a nice lucrative deal with Tampa Bay but goes down with an injury.

Anyway, consider me a big fan of Floyd. It looks like he'll go before our pick but I'd love to get him. I guess I'm just not as high on some of the other OLB's that would be available at #15. Mingo is interesting and so is Ansah but I can't get hyped up about Dion Jordan.
