kffl 1 Kansas City Chiefs Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M Still may go with Joeckel even if Branden Albert returns. The Alex Smith deal ensures Geno Smith will not be the pick. Dee Milliner has an outside shot, but Joeckel makes the most sense. 2 Jacksonville Jaguars Dee Milliner CB Alabama Cornerbacks rarely go this early in a draft, but Milliner may be the exception to the rule, particularly given Jacksonville's needs. 3 Oakland Raiders Sharrif Floyd DT Florida DT is a big need, as is stopping the run: a perfect marriage. OAK has to address defense first, especially the front seven. 4 Philadelphia Eagles Eric Fisher OT Central Michigan Regardless of what Chip Kelly does at QB, someone has to protect the passer. Fisher is the best remaining man for the job. 5 Detroit Lions Damontre Moore DE Texas A&M Detroit has facing a crisis situation at defensive end, and Moore's beastly ability could be felt immediately in Motown. Ignore his poor Combine and wait for Pro Day results. 6 Cleveland Browns Ezekiel Ansah DE/OLB Brigham Young The Browns are making the switch to 3-4 ... again. QB could be an option here, but I doubt it. The defense needs pass-rushing help in a major way. 7 Arizona Cardinals Geno Smith QB West Virginia Barely a first-round talent, in my opinion, Smith will go in this area because of the dearth of talent at the position. 8 Buffalo Bills Cordarrelle Patterson WR Tennessee Chance Warmack makes sense if Andy Levitre leaves. Doug Marrone's offense will have Sean Payton likeness, and could use a big-time playmaker opposite Stevie Johnson. 9 New York Jets Dion Jordan OLB Oregon Jordan has been soaring up draft boards and should be in consideration for this pick, at the very least. NYJ could opt for a WR, as well. 10 Tennessee Titans Chance Warmack OG Alabama The best interior lineman in the draft should bolster this line that is in need of an upgrade between the tackles. 11 San Diego Chargers Lane Johnson OT Oklahoma This is probably a reach, but the Chargers need help at both tackle positions, as well as guard, and cornerback. OLB could even be in the cards. Johnson is an athletic freak. 12 Miami Dolphins Sheldon Richardson DT Missouri LT will be the pick if someone worthy is available. DT needs a lot of work, WR could be addressed, as could cornerback. Many options for MIA. 13 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Desmond Trufant CB Washington Cornerback is argubly the biggest need for the Bucs right now, but defensive end could come into play with this pick. A deep DE class means they can hold off, however. 14 Carolina Panthers Star Lotulelei DT Utah Who knows what to expect until we know more about his health evaluations, but Carolina should be interested if Star is available. Look for WR to be in the equation, too. 15 New Orleans Saints Barkevious Mingo OLB/DE LSU Mingo will be asked to play rush linebacker in New Orleans' new 3-4 alignment. They have a pro -passing on Jarvis Jones

draft king 15. New Orleans Saints - Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia (6'2" 245) Jones might be the biggest enigma of the elite, top-tier prospects in this year's draft. His pass-rushing skills are unquestionably strong. He faces top-flight competition and excelled, even when teams gameplanned against him. The negative: he's below prototype height for a 4-3 DE and overall undersized compared with some of the other elite guys. The big concern for Jones is his diagnosis of spinal stenosis, which is an abnormal narrowing of the spinal canal. Read this write-up to find out more. The boom-or-bust potential here is huge. Southern Cal refused to clear him to play after a 2009 neck injury, which lead to his transfer to Georgia. There will be some teams that refuse to draft him based on that alone, nevermind his 12½ sacks in 2012. Hypothetically he could go as high as #2 to the Jaguars or outright fall out of the first round. I daresay there are few other players, if any, who fit into that category. --passing on Mingo

I hope 2 QBs happen. I think one more likely. Maybe even none more likely than two. They can wait until Rd 2 or move up from those spots for late 1st QB grabs. No Jarvis Jones? He's gotta go somewhere. How far? I can't see past NYJ, SD, or the Saints. Lotulelei is still a question mark to be defined much like Jones. Check mark on health and he's another Top 10 or higher Milliner looks like a Top 5 now, can't see him past Detroit. Some are talking the possibility of him even #1 overall. ---------------------- adding this one, dunno the guy but he's a devout Jets guy. has them taking Jones and passing on Mingo. Posting in case that is more insight than his own hope... 1. Kansas City Chiefs Luke Joeckel OT, Texas A&M 2. Jacksonville Jaguars Star Lotulelei DT, Utah 3. Oakland Raiders Sharrif Floyd DT, Florida 4. Philadelphia Eagles Dion Jordan OLB, Oregon 5. Detroit Lions Dee Milliner CB, Alabama 6. Cleveland Browns Ezekiel Ansah OLB, BYU 7. Arizona Cardinals Geno Smith QB, West Virginia 8. Buffalo Bills Eric Fisher OT, Central Michigan 9. New York Jets Jarvis Jones OLB, Georgia 10. Tennessee Titans Chance Warmack OG, Alabama 11. San Diego Chargers Lane Johnson OT, Oklahoma 12. Miami Dolphins Cordarrelle Patterson WR, Tennessee 13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Bjoern Werner DE, Florida State 14. Carolina Panthers Sheldon Richardson DT, Missouri 15. New Orleans Saints Barkevious Mingo OLB, LSU

Charles Davis nfl.com PICK NO. 1 LUKE JOECKEL OTTEXAS A&M Yes, Joeckel's being challenged for the No. 1 spot, but he's still the guy at this point to supplement the Alex Smith acquisition. PICK NO. 2 ERIC FISHER OTCENTRAL MICHIGAN There's a big need for a pass rusher in Jacksonville -- what else is new? -- but this riser will help struggling young QB Blaine Gabbert. PICK NO. 3 SHARRIF FLOYD DTFLORIDA Tremendous season, tremendous NFL Scouting Combine. The Raiders get a building block who will make plays. PICK NO. 4 LANE JOHNSON OTOKLAHOMA Johnson's athleticism wowed at the combine. He's an excellent fit in Philly, with the expected tempo change on offense under Chip Kelly. PICK NO. 5 DEE MILLINER CBALABAMA Milliner quieted speed concerns at the combine. The Lions need guys to cover NFC receiver threats. PICK NO. 6 JARVIS JONES OLBGEORGIA Questions abound with Jones' neck, but once he clears medical hurdles, look out. This is the best edge pass rusher in the 2013 NFL Draft. PICK NO. 7 GENO SMITH QBWEST VIRGINIA Another fresh start in Arizona. New head coach Bruce Arians begins his tenure with a quarterback he can build around ... and win with. PICK NO. 8 CHANCE WARMACK OGALABAMA There's some sentiment for a quarterback or wide receiver here, but the guard from Alabama improves the pass and run games. Warmack's one of the best overall players in this draft class. PICK NO. 9 DION JORDAN DEOREGON After shoulder surgery, Jordan will need to get bigger and stronger, but his versatility and speed will help Gang Green in a big way. PICK NO. 10 JONATHAN COOPER OGNORTH CAROLINA Another top-level offensive lineman who will help a young QB get comfortable by creating space for Chris Johnson, who's hungry for another CJ2K season. PICK NO. 11 STAR LOTULELEI DTUTAH Lotulelei had a heart-condition scare in Indianapolis, and NFL teams will await the results of further testing. If everything checks out, the Chargers get an active, versatile front man. PICK NO. 12 CORDARRELLE PATTERSON WRTENNESSEE A crying need meets its match. The Dolphins lack a dynamic playmaker on the perimeter, and Mr. Patterson fills that role. PICK NO. 13 XAVIER RHODES CBFLORIDA ST. Rhodes is the long, big corner (6-foot-1 1/2, 210 pounds) that Tampa has been seeking to fill the hole vacated by Aqib Talib. PICK NO. 14 SHELDON RICHARDSON DTMISSOURI A gifted defensive tackle who can play defensive end (and was even used as a linebacker at times at Missouri). The Panthers need a playmaking DT. PICK NO. 15 BARKEVIOUS MINGO DELSU The Saints have a new defensive coordinator for the third time in three years. Rob Ryan will turn "KeKe" loose, making life difficult for opposing quarterbacks. ---very solid mock IMO

Pat Kirwan who's pretty well respected- 1. Kansas City -- Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama: I put Lane Johnson in this spot last week and got calls from two NFL offensive line coaches that said he's the No. 2 OT, not the top OT. The Chiefs agreed on a trade for Smith and franchised Albert, which means the Alabama corner creeps up into the top of the draft. 2. Jacksonville -- Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan: The Jaguars may debate Luke Joeckel at this spot, but Fisher seems like the offensive line coaches' choice. They may debate Sharrif Floyd , the defensive tackle out of Florida. 3. Oakland -- Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida: Richard Seymour isn't coming back and Tommy Kelly could be gone for cap reasons. Floyd has emerged as the top DT in the draft. 4. Philadelphia -- Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M: The Eagles should take a long hard look at Geno Smith but they will come back around for a guy like EJ Manuel. Todd Herremans told me he's ready to go back to guard if the team gets a big-time tackle. 5. Detroit -- Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU: "Ziggy" has the best upside of the pass rushing defensive ends, and without Avril or VandenBosch the Lions need Ansah. 6. Cleveland -- Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon: The Browns will look at the two quarterbacks on the board but Norv Turner will convince them Brandon Weeden is good enough, at least until they get to the second or third round. 7. Arizona -- Matt Barkley, QB, USC: I don't care about what happened with Matt Leinart in Arizona, this team needs a QB in the draft and Barkley has tons of experience in what Bruce Arians wants to do. 8. Buffalo -- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia: The Bills GM has already said the team needs a QB. Pass on Smith here and the team will never see anyone like him in the second round. 9. New York Jets -- Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU: The Jets have no one that can really rush the passer. Others will be considered for this spot, and it may be Jordan or Jarvis Jones , but I like Mingo, at least today. 10. Tennessee -- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah: The guy plays sideline to sideline. He is a force on the inside, and the Titans are starving for this kind of player. 11. San Diego -- Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma: Lane should go higher in the draft but the Chargers are fortunate he falls to them at this point. The former QB, DE and TE has elite athletic ability for the position. 12. Miami -- Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee: The Dolphins have the cap room to solve the wide receiver issue in free agency, which eliminates Patterson. For now it's the Tennessee wide receiver. 13. Tampa Bay -- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State: No-brainer with this pick: a Florida guy at a position of great need. Rhodes could play safety as well as corner, and the Bucs need help at both spots. 14. Carolina -- Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri: The Panthers need interior defensive line help, and the team is capable of taking the best defensive tackle on the board. 15. New Orleans -- Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia: The Saints are converting to a 3-4 defense and they have "take it or leave it" offers to Will Smith and Jonathan Vilma . At least one guy says leave it, and Jones is in play. --------------------- Milliner is turning into a Top 5 story. Other Top 5 DBs- Patrick Peterson Eric Berry Sean Taylor Terence Newman Quentin Jammer Charles Woodson that's all in the past 15 years

He posted another Mock today. He has taking Alec Ogletree the ILB. pretty much was going on about his assortment of skills. I know Hawthorne looks to be the other inside backer but I wouldn't hate this pick at all. He could win that job along side Lofton and Hawthorne could be the reserve

quote:
Jarvis Jones Expected To Slide on Draft Day Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones had been one of the most dominant football players in college football the past two seasons. He's destroyed the SEC for those two years, as many consider him to be one of the most talented players in the 2013 NFL Draft class. Jones is on top of my 2013 NFL Draft Big Board, as well as ESPN's Mel Kiper's. However, after speaking with scouts at the East-West Shrine Game who have Jones in their territory, they say they expect Jones to slide down and fall out of the top five next April. The scouts said there are a few reasons that could add up to Jones falling into the 6-10 range. First of all, the scouts said that Jones is not a good workout guy. They don't believe that he is going to test well or stand out in the Combine or pre-draft workouts. Area scouts who cover Georgia say that Jones is not a weight-room guy. He doesn't put a lot of work in during the week, but would show up on Saturday and dominate naturally. They said that Jones is a good guy and a good teammate, but just isn't a tireless worker. As one scout said, "Don't get me wrong, if you watch his tapes you'll say he is worth being the No. 1 rated player and going in the top five of the draft. You can watch him on Saturdays and see that this guy is animal. He's clearly the best player on the field, but not a guy that you'll be in love with during the week. Add in the medical concern and with the testing, and I think he's going to slide some on Draft Day." Jones' medical condition is a spinal stenosis that happened as a freshman at USC. On a routine hit against Oregon, Jones sustained the injury. A specialist told him he would be fine, but USC's doctors wouldn't clear him and told him he should retire from football. After transferring to Georgia, Jones broke out as one of the best players in college football. As a junior, Jones had 85 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 24.5 tackles for a loss, seven forced fumbles, three passes broken up and one interception in 2012. Jones had massive performances against Florida and Missouri with consistently good outings all year. Jones led the nation in sacks and for the second straight season had the most sacks in the SEC. In 2011, he tied for the second-most sacks in the nation, 13.5. He also had 70 tackles with 19.5 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles. Jones could be a classic example of teams overthinking the draft process. Over the history of the draft, good players have slid because of an unnecessary medical concerns or not working out well at the Combine. If Jones plays in the NFL like he did at Georgia, he'll reward whomever takes him on Draft Day with plenty of teams feeling regret.

I'll see your January 18th and raise you a March 3rd... Trainer Tom Shaw, who is working with Jones before the draft, as well as former Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo and other prospects at Disney’s sports complex, said, “No one has taken him off the board. That’s just news reporters. Jarvis got real upset about it because he doesn’t even know why that was going on.” Shaw said Jones has been examined by three specialists and all have cleared him. “They took three different MRIs since he’s been here and there’s no concern,” he said. I got keeny vaccaro out of Texas with our first pick. With the third I got barret jones out of Alabama in the third can play any offensive line position and could help with the fact we always lose and offensive line guy to injury. I got honey badger slipping to the fourth and be a huge steal in the fourth. I say Ryan otten from San Jose state in the fith round at te. In the six the nt out of Tennessee Martin montori Hughs. And in the seventh Stansly Mapongo out of tcu and he can play de or olb and he is a great pass rusher. This would be great because it will take out all our needs. Graham and Otten together would be great. But I really want the saints to get dustin Keller in free agency cause Brees would light it up with Keller

a bit of a reach at #15 IMO. If Harper/Jenkins returning is the plan it doesn't match up well for need. Trade back 5-10 spots then Vacarro looks completely different to me.
quote:
barret jones out of Alabama in the third
Like him a lot but dunno if he has any real potential at LT. We have a ton of prospective RTs, the most expensive guard tandem in the NFL, and one of the best value/performing centers in the league.
quote:
honey badger slipping to the fourth and be a huge steal in the fourth.
Wouldn't go huge steal but could see a 4th if he was around
quote:
Ryan otten from San Jose state in the fith round
not really familiar. cursory check of ratings sez he might be a UDFA. I've suggested Lutz... & Kelce as potential TE targets. Do think they will get one some round in this draft
quote:
the six the nt out of Tennessee Martin montori Hughs.
good choice, doubt if he's available 6th Rd tho
quote:
And in the seventh Stansly Mapongo
another good choice I mocked 6th Rd. Saints have no 7th Rder

Both Warmack & Cooper are rated high enough to go, two of these would help a lot If all those happened (2 QB, 2 WR, 2OG) then it could be a hard choice between several. Like Mingo or Ansah or Lotulelei. In this particular mock DT is a clear highest need for Carolina. If Lotulelei was still there I wonder if he could be rated high enough to jump them in trade to get him?

drafttek 7Rd update Passing on Mingo. I like the shakeup with Ogletree. If ya can get past the character concerns he is a playah fo sho. What I've been pondering is that I think he could be as good of an OLB, maybe even better, than he is on the inside... 15 New Orleans Alec Ogletree Georgia WILB Reach/Value: -9 Height:6'2" Weight:242 Alternate Pick #1 Barkevious Mingo Alternate Pick #2 Kenny Vaccaro GM Mickey Loomis has done a masterful job of reducing the Saints' salary cap deficit ($5+ million remains). With a 3-4 base defense, DE and OLB becomes a primary focus, but New Orleans can't afford to "miss" in 2013 draft. While defense is most likely, anything is possible. 75 New Orleans Margus Hunt SMU DE3 Reach/Value: +8 Height:6'8" Weight: 277 Alternate Pick #1 Brandon Williams Alternate Pick #2 Tavarres King 4th Rd Nico Johnson Alabama SILB 5th Rd Montori Hughes Tenn Martin DT 6th Rd Bradley McDougald Kansas FS

| re: 2013 NFL Draft -- Saints Mock Draft Compliation (Posted on 3/11/13 at 10:20 am to blueslover)
a reputable mocker 1. Kansas City Chiefs - OT Luke Joeckel (Texas A&M)...The Chiefs would love to move down and recoup the second round pick that they dealt to the 49ers in the Alex Smith trade, but will likely find no takers for this pick...the team needs some help on their D-Line and at CB, but they take Joeckel the best player on their board to solidify their O-Line especially since Branden Albert is only playing on a one-year deal and RT Eric Winston was released. 2. Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Eric Fisher (C. Michigan)...The Jaguars have needs on both sides of the line at DE and OT, but they go with the safest pick in Fisher who will help the team cut down on the 50 sacks they allowed last season...with Eugene Monroe on the roster, the Jaguars now have a pair of bookend OT's to help protect their quarterback. 3. Oakland Raiders - DT Sharrif Floyd (Florida)...Floyd will bring some youth to the middle of the Raiders D-Line with Richard Seymour and Tommy Kelly getting up there in age and the possibility that both will be playing elsewhere in 2013. 4. Philadelphia Eagles - DE/OLB Dion Jordan (Oregon)...The Eagles have multiple needs on the defensive side of the ball and go with Jordan who is considered the best pass rusher in the draft and a player that Chip Kelly is very familiar with. 5. Detroit Lions - DE Ezekial Ansah (BYU)...The Lions could surprise their fans by taking OT Lane Johnson with this pick since he would fill a huge need because LT Jeff Backus is on his last leg, RT Gosder Cherilus could leave in free agency and Riley Reiff could be moved inside to OG...DE Ansah has the biggest upside of any prospect in the draft, he fills a huge need and was coached by the Lions staff at the Senior Bowl...CB Dee Milliner would also fill a need, but the draft is very deep at the CB position. 6. Cleveland Browns - CB Dee Milliner (Alabama)...Milliner would fill a need playing opposite of Joe Hayden and give the team a solid CB tandem...GM Mike Lombardi will also look to add another strong-armed QB in this draft or possibly in free agency. 7. Arizona Cardinals - DT Star Lotulelei (Utah) ...New Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is looking for a strong armed QB to feature in his vertical passing game, but the top player on their board is still available and new DC Todd Bowles will find a way to use Lotulelei in his 3-4 front. 8. Buffalo Bills - QB Matt Barkley (USC)...The Bills have multiple needs on both sides of the ball, but their number one priority is to find a potential franchise QB in this draft...they can't gamble that the QB they are targeting will still be available with their pick in the second round, since several other teams are looking to draft a young QB...Barkley's stock will pick up steam after his pro day workout and would become the new face of the franchise. *Note - QB's EJ Manuel and Ryan Nassib will also be considered here. 9. New York Jets - OLB Barkevious Mingo (LSU)...The Jets need help on the defensive side of the ball especially at the LB position and Mingo's athleticism will really appeal to Rex Ryan...as a standup OLB Mingo could provide the team with the pass rusher that Ryan has been seeking since he's come to NY...RT and the QB position must also be addressed in the draft or free agency. 10. Tennessee Titans - OC/OG Jonathan Cooper (North Carolina)...Cooper fills a big need for Mike Munchak's team and is a perfect fit for the Titans zone blocking scheme...Cooper has the ability to play either guard or center for the Titans. 11. San Diego Chargers - OT Lane Johnson (Oklahoma)...The Chargers biggest need is at the LT position and Johnson is still on the board...Tom Telesco, the teams new GM, has a philosophy of drafting the best player available on the board and Johnson will not only rank high on their board, he will fill a huge need on the Chargers offensive line. 12. Miami Dolphins - WR Corderrelle Patterson (Tennessee)...The Dolphins fill their biggest need on the team with the selection of Patterson a big play making receiver that can stretch a defense vertically. 13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CB Xavier Rhodes (Florida State)...The Bucs have several needs on the defensive side of the ball including the CB position...Rhodes fills a need, is the best player available on their board, and can start from day one for the team. 14. Carolina Panthers - DT Sheldon Richardson (Missouri)...The Panthers must feel that they just hit the lottery since Richardson has slipped through the cracks...Richardson fills one of the teams biggest needs in the middle of their defensive line. 15. New Orleans Saints - OLB Jarvis Jones (Georgia)...One of the Saints biggest needs is on the defensive side of the ball at both OLB positions, so they roll the dice on Jones in hopes that he can stay healthy and be productive on the field.
