I was at work and did not get to watch the game at all. I saw that Seatle made a great effort at the comeback, but the Falcons held them off. Did Mike Smith and the Falcons blow the lead with bad coaching and what not or did the Hawks and Wilson just come out firing in the 4th?

Ryan threw a dumb INT with about 8 or 9 minuts left and a 13 point lead. That was really the difference

The Seahawks were at the goal line when the 4th quarter started. They had basically moved the ball up and down the field all game, but shot themselves in the foot and came away empty handed several times in the first half. The second half the Seahawks were scoring, but Atlanta matched one of the scores and their lead looked safe.

When Seattle scored on the first play of the 4th quarter, and the lead was cut to 13, the Seahawks defense finally got a stop. Then the panic set in for the Falcons as Seattle marched down and scored cutting the game to 6 points with about 8 minutes left.

So it was basically the bad int that really did it? No bad coaching decesions or anything like that? I mean that would have been an epic collapse if they had lost.

When it was 27-21, ATL had a chance to run the clock down and elected to throw the ball. Seattle wound up getting the ball back with enough time to drive down the field and score.

After ATL went up 30-28, the kickoff was either a botched squib or an attempted onsides, that resulted in Seattle getting the ball near midfield with about 6 seconds left and a timeout. Luckily for ATL they couldn't convert.

The bad interception allowed the Seahawks to cut it to one score, and then the sphincters of every Falcon coach, player, and fan intensely contracted until the comeback was complete.

But the Falcons did put together a couple of good receptions in the last 31 seconds to set up the game winning field goal. So a great job by them to pull it together at the end.

It was a pretty dumb INT, but if I remember right, the Seahawks still had to drive 60+ yards.

Wrong. They ran the ball every play on that drive except for third down and it was like third and 8. There was also over 3 minutes at this point and Seattle had 3 timeouts and the two minute warning still left.

They needed to try for the first down, not to try and run the clock out.

You're right, I was thinking about ATL's possession before that one. I forgot they traded punts before Seattle's scoring drive.

I think it was more Russell Wilson and Zach Miller going apeshit.

The Ryan int was a big deal and a bad throw, but a lot of credit goes to the Seahawks offense and Russell Wilson in particular. They got in a second half groove like Atlanta's groove in the first half.

There is a reason the Seahawks have been thrashing teams the second half of the season and their biggest loss the entire year was by seven points. They are pretty damn good and very resilient. Wilson is unflappable and the whole team is just very strong mentally.
