I've shot all the deer I've killed with slugs. I was using Imp Cyl but then bought a rifled choke tube for my Browning.
I keep foster type slugs in a pie pan at 50 yards. I don't shoot any further so I'm good with them.
Winchester makes a 1650 fps hollow point slug for smooth bores and it is an accurate sumbitch outta my Browning.
Buy a few different brands, shot em and see which ones do best out of your gun. I have a youth model Mossberg 500 that I had bought for my wife before she died to hunt with me. It had a rifled barrel. I found out that it frickin hated Hornady SST sabots as well as Federal/Barnes Expander sabots. Ended up using Brenneke's and it liked them the best.
