Now comes the biggest potential problem. If Proposal 18 passes, “select” schools could move quickly to form their own association. This week, several head coaches at select schools said they would be interested in such a split if the proposal passes. They note that many of the private schools play before big crowds while many public schools share in that revenue when they play against each other.

In December, one LHSAA source said, “They (publics) can talk all they want about a split. But when it comes time to vote, my guess is several will not pull the trigger.” Money talks.

This sums it up pretty good

THAT

MFing THAT

Chalmette being in a public school district is logical right now with the status quo. it's "fair" competition, and we need to win games in order to not be a joke.

but tell us we'll never play our biggest rival and all the other Catholic schools again (whether we lose to them all the time or not) and we'll think differently about a possible split.

lots of logical games won't happen if there's a split. Evangel/Barbe was a 48-47 classic last year, and we wouldn't get a rematch. St. Paul's wouldn't play Mandeville or Covington. Calvary Baptist would never get a chance to avenge their loss to Mansfield, likewise St. Aug's losses to East Jeff in football and basketball. Catholic would never play Central or Dutchtown.

Ouachita Christian would only be able to play St. Frederick in the Monroe area. likewise with Loyola Prep, Evangel, and Calvary in Shreveport

it's easy to say a split would be fair, but it's harder when you think in terms of "we'll never play again"
