My problem with the NFL handling of things is there seems to be no or very limited assistance for players after they've finished playing.
I wouldn't expect my current employer to provide assistance for me if I left the company. Especially not if I was making 7 figures every year for 5 years (give or take).
There seems to be some fallacy that once NFL players retire, they can't work anymore and are therefore entitled to retirement income and healthcare (in their late 20's early 30's no less).
They are normal citizens just like every one of us. If we "retired" from our jobs, and we didn't have the income to supplement such a "retirement", then we'd have to get a job.
NFL players also get a pension based on years played in the league. It isn't nearly close the figure they are used to living off of, but it makes a great additional income to whatever job you can find at the ripe old age of 30-35.
Again, these players don't deserve a damn thing.
