1) The Everyman Action Hero

2) Superman-The non gritty dark version of Superman. Truth Justice and the American way

3) Mel Brooks' Movies-The smart Spoof.

Good article, and I agree wholeheartedly.

In 2006, Bryan Singer tried to make a genuine, honest-to-goodness Superman movie, and what happened? Everyone hated it. For whatever reason, simple plots with good guys who are just Good and bad guys who are just Bad don't work for us anymore. It's not enough that your hero fights for the American way; he needs to be tortured, psychologically and emotionally, and his villains need to be complex and subtle. If your hero doesn't have some tortured past or dark secret, your audience will hate you.

Duh. Answered your own rant.

Bingo. Need more of these, but I don't see a modern actor who could really pull off a John McClane.

Except for the you know, the new DH movie.

No no, I love that stuff, but the movie was just boring. It had nothing to do with he cheesiness of it.

They needed a villain besides Lex Luthor in that, and to top it off his plan is absolutely retarded.

Not to mention perhaps the biggest miscasting in the history of film with Lois Lane.

Meaningless 80s movie plots where nerd overtakes the cool crowd. Not because of the movie, but the mall bangs and tons of unnecessary tit shots

Superman lifts an island of the only thing that can kill him, so fricking retarded. What's the entertaining about watching a hero that has 0% of losing? It's like watch the patriots play a middle school team.
