The world would be a more productive place if everyone had amphetamine salts.

I realize that the aboved-mentioned ones are feelgood drugs. But if we're going down that road, I'll argue that your common antibiotics ought to be available too. I know when I have a sinus infection or ear infection, and this would save me a doctor visit.

You can buy amoxicillin for animals online. Works great.

there are numerous web sites that sell antibiotics and ship them to the US.

antibiotics are not a controlled substance. So technically you don't need a prescription to have them, or import them. Just to buy them at a pharmacy.

And yes, I would say almost all drugs should be legal and able for purchase.

What is the ratio of people that take Oxycotin to those who are addicted to it beyond the capacity to make rational decisions.

Addictive narcotics. This is a bridge too far for me. The key is an individual loses the ability to make a choice when they become chemically addicted.

If all drugs were suddenly legalized and readily available tomorrow, we'd have a bunch of morons killing themselves for a while. But if we lived in a society where all drugs were legal and had been legal for a while, people would have a healthy respect for them.

Wut? That makes no logical sense. You're really speaking out of both sides of your mouth.

Sort of like the US up until the early 20th century.

I've heard that some of those websites sell antibiotics that are of poor quality, manufactured in unsanitary places, or are just plain fakes. I'd be worried about ordering them.

I buy zpacks from the lady I buy my bars from. Seems to be legit the one time I used it. And she does quality control for me, since she imports and resells.

But it could have quality problem. Lots of the indian/paki drugs are really shite. I have used these websites, and I always try to buy brand name. And google the provider with safeorscam. And google the brand with "fake" etc.

Yes.

sure. I think it would lower costs by a good deal, and could allow people access to medication that otherwise would be difficult to attain. There will be, of course, those who make terrible decisions. If we are playing hypothetically, though, I can imagine that there is no public safety net that would support Oxycontin addicts.

But that isn't the right comparison since Oxycotin is a controlled substance. Even then, I bet it's pretty close. Allow people to just buy it in a store and I think you will see a higher proportion of addicts.

If we are to follow the same strain of logic and apply it to other addictive substances, would it not follow that usage rates would decrease under prohibition?

right but much of the problem with addiction of opiate drugs comes from the fact they are really expensive to obtain. Oxycontin can be purchased generically, so it could end up being really cheap to make. So some of the effects would be reduced.

After all the crime problem for bums looking for a booze fix is relatively low, and that is b.c booze is cheap. You don't hear about people robbing kwiki marts to buy smokes.

Plus just b.c a drug is legal doesn't mean you don't have other controls over it.

Finally there are things you can do to reduce the addiction of these drugs, such as stopping it from being able to be crushed up.

Oxy is really nasty stuff though. I have a cousin currently in rehab for it, actually I think he is out.
