It is an awesome aircraft.... 
The GAU-8A is a "kick in the butt" to fire, it can carry almost any ordnance in the inventory, and will get you home 99.9% of the time. I limped one back to base on one rudder and one engine after a confrontation with a 23mm ZSU on 26 Feb 1991...

I know it was fun, and it's a cliche to say 'thanks for your service'...but the bottom line is that you might not have made it back. And if not for our powerful military...we wouldn't be running our mouths like we do on this forum. Or a lot of forums for that matter. The whole Free World can thank our military for their prosperity; the one Obama wants to gut.

i had lurked for a while, mainly on the rant. My friend (lsu alum) turned me onto the rant and also posted here before a self imposed ban.
Anyway, I had no intention of registering until I saw my 2nd cousin in a babe thread.

Thank you, it was an honor, and a privilege to serve. I am the third generation in my family to serve in the Army Air Corp/USAF. That said, it's a different situation now, and I'm actually glad that my children will be pursuing other careers...
