what's an "analytical skills job" ?
I would assume they meant some type of statistical analysis job. Applied Economics, Financial analyst, fiscal analyst, debt analyst, equity analyst, risk assesment?

well those are mainly certification-based areas where a degree isn't anything more than a trade school certificate so no shite

Ehh, I've worked for several companies that had a slew of finance/accounting people without CPAs or CFAs. Even still, while you don't have to get an Accounting/Finance degree to get a CPA 99% of those people have those degrees.

yes. They often demonstrate writing skills and subjective analysis abilities beyond many from other fields. It is case by case, though. I am, far too often, appalled by the communication skills college grads demonstrate in the work environment.

i'm just saying that you're picking trades that have specific trade-degrees. it's a pigeon-holed example that argument can be flipped. i wouldn't hire an engineering grade as a print editor, and neither would you

i'm just talking about potential employees i'm not talking shite about accounting or liberal arts. it's all relative and there are a bunch of factors that can change things

Maybe even location doesn't matter and businesses should actually get back to training employees rather than expecting colleges to do that?

I know a lot of very smart and successful people with no college degree at all, so adding a liberal arts degree to that sort of base obviously wouldn't detract. Also, while my law degree (and more so, experience) help in business my most successful and fulfilling endeavors have nothing to do with law or my undergrad degree.

After 5 years of work experience, your degree is largely irrelevant. I have hired people with liberal arts degrees. I have one. I will continue to hire them, if their resume looks good.
