We don't pay taxes on groceries in Texas. Is it not the same in LA?

The problem is the Homestead Exemption is at 75k.

I think for this to pass you are going to have to put a cap on Sales tax so that people living in the cities don't pay 12.5%. Probably cap it at around 10%.

In order to offset it, I wouldn't be shocked to see a movement to lower the Homestead Exemption to 50k.

Not at all positive about the numbers, but you get the general idea.

We just pay parish tax on food items.
