I'm not saying we all shouldn't hope. I just would rather not subject myself to this board and have posters losing their minds because we're getting whooped by the best team in the league and somehow they weren't expecting it.
This.

Can't really blame the "when's baseball start crowd", can you?

When is the last time the basketball team had any excitement by the start of February?

I got ya there. I don't believe we will win, and if we made the NIT this year it would be a successful season in my book!

Too early of course to judge him in that regard one way or the other, but I do think some of the early season fellating was predictably premature.

Too many cold periods by this team. Happens every year. JJ hopefully will turn this program around but it looks bleak this year only because every other conference team is better than Auburn, I think.

Well there sure wasn't much excitement in the PMAC even before the collapse. I was at the UGA game, me and about 1,500 of my closest friends.

I do remember hoping for a NCAA birth, then the team was flat out awful down the stretch.

I think you were overthinking it. I was very happy with the change in style and the improvement that I saw early in the season. But I knew this season was still going to be very tough for us. The reason I'm so optimistic is based on who we've signed and the possibility of everyone returning next year outside of our boy Carmouche. to me, that's a real step in the right direction and it's something that I have felt with the basketball program in a long time: hope.

Auburn actually played #12 Illinois down to the wire, only lost by 2

Actually, Auburn's not as bad as their record. They did just beat Florida St. and took No. 11 Illinois to the wire in Champagne.

But what dissappoints me is our think our talent is comparable to theirs and they got more out of theirs in spades in the second half after we had a halftime lead.

If CJJ was coaching last year we would've been a more lethal team. I loved last years team I thought they had the perfect step up with Hamilton JOB turner stringer and hickey with warren of the bench.

We can't afford to go down 10 in the second half to any SEC team. We went from 2 up to 10 down through sloppy play with no significant changes. Maybe CJJ had it all planned out that way, but it sure as shite didn't work.

Aren't you full of knowledge after watching your first game.

Excellent analysis.

When you play our style of pressure defense, this happens. Usually the other team does shoot >50% of their looks.

with no significant changes

Let's see. JOB had 4 fouls, Collins is out, Ludwig is a non-factor, and everyone else saw the floor

Not to mention, we went to a high post offense to try and break their zone, which was about all we could attempt as cold as we were from three, and went to the press with around 7 left. All this with CJJ saving his timeouts with the use of TV timeouts to make a late run.

Curious, what would you have done coach?

Free throws really kill this team. It's going to be a recurring theme too.

Good pool players can make long straight-in shots with thier eyes closed, because its all about the correct and disciplined shooting form -not just FEEL.A guy like Carmouche probably don't know nothing about shooting with correct form and doing it on every shot, he's got to FEEL right to shoot well. Like when he's playing less important games or maybe playing at home. Not trying to knock him-I was almost like him in high school. You can only do what you know.

Maybe CJJ should dedicate a workout before a game solely on free throws and conditioning. I'm sure they probably do anyways...

Of course they already do that. They're just a poor free throw shooting team. Probably a confidence problem as much as anything. Another reason why we probably don't press as much is to keep some fresh legs, as we're bad enough as it stands at FT shooting.
