That we are truly that close to Gump-dum

That we are not losing ground in recruiting

That we are going to be better next year

I love, LOVE, LSU Football! I don't live and breathe it like some of the hardcore people out there, but it is important to me because it was, at one point, part of my life.

Please, make me a posi-tiger.

PS - right now, yes, we are one of the top programs in the country, but why does it feel like we are maxed out/leveled off

Show me a team that is closer to "Gump-dum" than LSU. Oregon, Stanford, Ohio State (to be determined), FSU, aTm? A few of those are toss-ups. No program is really close to what Bama has accomplished.

We beat them last year and played them in the bcs championship. We on the sec last year, they didnt.

Well recruitng is not going to budge. They will continue to get #1 and #2 rankings. whether that is indicative of the actual talent is for another argument. But id say as long as you reel in top 10 classes you are fine. Not much difference. Even though most would have you believe LSu has the best facilities, most talent, and no other team can put players into the nfl.

Beat them once last year. Should have beat them this year.

Last I checked we were signing a pretty solid class again. Next year we could be top 5 with the talent in that class. Recruiting has never been an issue.

We probably won't be. It's not an easy task when you lose half your defense to the nfl.

Bc you read this site WAY too much.

We were one defensive stop or one personal foul call away from beating them this year and being SECW champs

Our recruiting class is the shite can end up ranked anywhere from #6-#1. Josh MCneil decommitted from Bama and would be an LSU commit right now if it wasnt for academics and most likely will end up as one. We could see alot of the players in the rotation or starting next season. This year and next year could end up being out two best recruiting classes ever. We are in fact gaining ground in out of state recruitment having more recruits from all over the US than ever before and have 10 out of the top 12 recruits from Louisiana locked up.

We might take a step back next year defensively but I believe our offense is going to be alot like Bamas this year. We are going to have an awesome O-Line (barring any injuries) and the Blue/Hill combo is going to eat people alive. Also Mett will have another offseason under his belt to work with the receivers. Our offensive philosophy is sound we just need to take out a few plays and execute better and we will be unstoppable.

LSU has been the best opponent Alabama has played in last 2 seasons

LSU is pulling in another Top 5 recruiting class and could land #1 player nation

quote:

LSU is to the point they reload not rebuild, they have a stable defensive coordinator so they will never have a 08/09 defense again

Look, no coach or team is even with Alabama and Saban at the moment but LSU is not far off. LSU over past 3 season has played Alabama tough and a few breaks they beat them again this year. LSU may be closer than pretty much any team in the nation if you compare them over the past 5 season. No LSU does not have the national titles of Alabama over that span but name another team that does. LSU has been in the hunt and the Alabama game has been a deciding factor in that.
LSU still has 5* and 4* players across the board, that has not changed. What Saban is doing in recruiting is amazing, but it doesn't just effect LSU it effects every CFB team. As Louisiana isn't the only state he has recruited well in.
Les is a flawed coach, we've seen that but he is also a proven winner, maybe he goes the Bob Stoops route and continues to put up 10+ wins a season and has LSU in the hunt for a national championship but falls short. However, NO COACH is currently doing what Saban is doing and very few are maintaining their teams the way Les and LSU have been since 05.
We play in the SEC which has now won 7 straight BCS games and sent 2 teams to BCS games pretty much every season, so winning the way Les has is even more amazing imo and I have never been a huge Les fan, I respect him but I question his playcalling like everyone else.

This is how programs should work. We reach the top of CFB then start building a strong foundation by creating better facilities, locking up recruitment in state and branching out of state, hire great staff, continue a tradition of winning, etc. We do this so when some cataclysmic change happens in the program like it does to everyone every 10 years or so we wont drop off the face of the earth.

Its so sad, beyond shameful, that so many just cant see...

1. Look at the Bama game box score from this yr. DO IT!! We dominated that team. The loss was not on Les, it was on Chavis, or Tyrann actually if u think bout Mills' error. Bama scored 14 points in the last 2 min of each half (7 in each, when Chavis called the prevent). Most offensive yards put on a Saban team since '07, (LSU then as well), this includes Sumlin this yr, Meyer w/ Tebow, Cam, etc. And that was when Saban did not even have his cherry picked players in yet (it was Shula's guys), so actually, this was the best offensive showing by any team on a Saban Bama D in history thus far. Even with the onsides kick fail and fake field goal fail distorting the stats (even attempting this got the players jacked, not as much a failure as one might think). 30% less NFL talent to begin with and what? 9 starters lost to injury/kicked off team (Tyrann)? And we were down 14 points early in the game. If that dont tell u wussup, nothing will.

2. If we would have won the NC last yr 2011(big if, yes) Les would have won 3 straight vs Saban. 3 straight!! Les had him on the ropes like no one ever has before. Saban HAD to win that game. No other coach in the country can or has done this to him. And lets face it, satan is probly the best all time coach with the largest, deepest repertoire of NFL talent ever assembled in one program in history, they also happen to be the best developed, NFL ready playaz as well.

3. Les is actually the greatest verbal motivator in the history of the game. I cannot find a coach now or in the past who can give a pregame or halftime speech better than he. Only going by the videos and audio available, but just sayin. I'm kind of a connoisseur of these things. Telling u, Saban is envious of Miles in this regard. Gameday verbal motivational speech delivery is 30% or more in the college game, just my opinion (psychology is everything, morale is everything in battle). Especially for a physical team, especially for a defense. And people only give cred to Chavis for our incredible d. I presonally think Miles' pregame pump up from the GT game was th greatest in history (cant find it anymore on the int, someone please let me know if u have it!) Hell, check out Schembechler's famous epic "Tha Team" speech (youtube), widely regarded as the best all time lockeroom hollering on video, Les learned from the best and prob witnessed that incredible magic in person. Miles knows how to use his verbal skills to build confidence in young men and he knows how to get them jacked! Its like second nature to him. He could easily have a second career as an actor or pro wrestler. I heard Stallone n Arnold asked him to be a part of The Expendables but Les declined (just couldnt fit it into his busy sched). Miles also leads all current NFL and college coaches in Testosterone PPB according to his recent bloodwork.

4. Miles has LOCKED UP the state of LA, something Saban never even truly did (to be fair he didnt have enuff time tho). Go look at how many LA players Saban offers every year. He offers the top 15 EVERY YEAR. We lose one of these players bout every other year. this yr, Miles got EVERY ONE OF EM!! Lost not one! Yet Saban offered each one. Miles was a very successful salesman before geauxing into coaching (a long haul trucking contract salesman). A Jedi in the living room. Parents love him, so do players, obviously. Dude even got a top qb from Los Angeles this yr who could have gone literally anywhere.

5. Miles has a culture of 2nd half teams, unlike Saban's 1st half teams he fielded at LSU. Kind of like the Saints under Haslett vs under Payton. Of Miles 85 wins, 1/4 of those are 4th quarter comebacks. This is way better than the reverse and usually teams/programs are either one or the other.

6. We have built it Fournette will come. Louisiana's 2014 products will be the best this decade.

7. Miles is Bo Schembechler's apprentice and greatest product. Bo was a top 10 college coach of all time, Hall of famer.

8. Skip Bertman chose Miles for our coach. Nuff said. People who want Miles gone think they know coaching more than Skip (5 rings in 10 yrs). This is a fact, they think they know better! 1st rule of criticism, learn it!

9. Mettenburger will train angry all offseason. He will straight crow hop the SEC next yr. He has the biggest NFL upside of any current SEC qb. NFL scouts be droolin. Arm like a major league pitcher. This was only his 1st yr, JC dont count.

10. We r deep as shite and have been stacking talent for a good while. But many think we have as much as FLA or BAMA, which we do not. Got bout a lil more than AU/So Car has right now. (not incl this yrs class) We have less NFL talent than GA does right now as well.

11. We have the top DC in the country, and he absolutely LOVES Coach Miles and wants to retire working for him.

12. Miles loves LSU so much that he turned down his dream job for us, TWICE!

13. Miles has shown he can adjust and adapt. He has proved his detractors wrong time and time again (and they r still mega-butthurt from it).

14. Miles is the most entertaining head coach of all time. What the hell do u watch football for anyway!?

15. All these players leaving early is a hallmark of an uber-successful program in the modern era. This is exactly what top 4 stars and all 5 stars want to see. We are a freekin conveyor belt to the NFL. We will have 3 1st rounder this yr, possibly 4 w/ Reid (all juniors). depends on the combine but we lookin good for this if u read the scout's stuff.

I could geaux on, trust me, there is more...

p.s. notice how I used the word "Miles" in just bout every item...

When you win 80% of the time and routinely post double digit win seasons in the SEC things are going well.

Oh yeh, and did anyone notice McCarron's reaction after his final drive in the game this yr in TS (of course u did)? Or howzabout Clemson's? These guys act like they just downed Muhammad Ali when they beat us. I wonder why that is?

Oh yeh, and this is the real mystery/kicker... Miles has somehow done all this while literally missing a section of his grey matter. One hand tied behind his back. Its tru, he literally has a deformed brain.

This HAS to mess w/ the head's of coaches like Spurrier n Saban when he beats them. They know this about him and are in awe. Ever seen a guy who's had a stroke?

Don't need one. I believe LSU will do for me what I request of them. Play football, win a lot of games, keep the ones you lose close and exciting, entertain me.

People lose sight of the fact that this is sport. Sport was created for entertainment, exercise and a way to let out the aggression we (males) have. If LSU plays entertaining football with guys exerting aggressive hits on opposition then they are doing what they should.

Don't you believe they have done, do and will do that in the future?
