We all have seen the explanation that 2001 is a take on the movie industry and HAL is specifically supposed to be a camera lens symbol??

I dont think Chicken was opposed to it..it just never happened for some reason. I could never get him to give a final word and i dont think i could get one specific one locked down...it was just a big mess from the get go.

the black and white looks pretty sleek and also gives me a darth vader vibe. Hate the grey one though. I liked the movie reel O better than the Hal

People who don't know Hal will think its a camera lens, which still makes it appropriate. Plus once they see the film, it will be a nice connection for the posters to notice. Plus Hal is probably in the Top 10 most iconic villains, so I don't see why its that obscure. If people haven't seen 2001, I bet most people still know who Hal is due to how much he's littered throughout the Sci-fi genre and popular culture.
