I'll start.
the Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003) trailer that begins with the the remake of "Song To The Siren" and ends with the camera noises was perfectly done.
the movie? not so much

I agree with you, that trailer is one of my favorites of all time. Although the movie is nothing comparable to the original it lives in its own little world and is entertaining to me. It is one of my guilty pleasures and I have no defense for really liking it.
I'll add all of Sascha Baron Cohen's movies after Borat. They appeared to be funny and to me they were not.

the fall: trailer made you think that a paralyzed soldier tells a little girl with a broken arm in the bed next to him treasure hunting stories so that she will find and get him the things he needs to end his life.

Movie didn't go that route and I thought it was horrible because I was expecting it to do so. Actual story I won't spoil, but was subpar.

I like The Fall. One of the best blu-ray movies you could ever own, very beautiful movie. I mean it was no Pan's Labyrinth, which it seemed to try and copy in a way, but it was still good.

The Village
I was about as excited for that movie to come out as I've been for any movie I can remember

The Phantom Menace. I was JIMPing all over the place after the trailers

but compare the meh of the movie to the power of the trailer...the difference makes the suck.
Like going to a 5 star restaurant and the food coming out like Applebees....Applebees isn't bad, but I was expecting a whole lot more.

Agreed that the TCM remake trailer was awesome, but I thought that movie was really well done though.
I liked the Village too.
My feelings (of love) for Alien 3 are well documented on here, but that's a trailer that disappointed legions of fans with the whole teaser that the aliens wouldbe on Earth.
Also, cue a lot of Transformers submittals.

To say it sucked was harsh but the trailer made it out to be something completely different than what it was.

Agreed. I liked it a lot. Of course, I went in expecting very little from it.

I've heard this one sucks. I've owned it for years, and still have yet to watch it. But you're right, the trailer was pretty cool.
I actually like a lot of movies listed in this thread. Of course, I rarely hate a movie. This thread is difficult for me to come up with answers because I don't know of many movies that I think just basically sucked out loud...I'm usually pretty good at avoiding shite I know I won't like.
There was one fairly recently though..I remember watching it and it was pretty bad. I'm drawing a blank on what it was though.
