Hey guys,
I want to get a muzzle suppressor. Haven't settled on brand and such at this time, but will start out w/ using it on a 22 LR. My main question at this time is deciding the best way to go about getting a muzzle suppressor, specifically by setting up a gun trust or not.

From what I've read so far, the gun trust has...
pros: avoids photos, fingerprints and signature of local law enforcement agency.
cons: legal expenses to set it up.
potential problems finding a local lawyer who's familiar w/ a gun trust.

I'm still fuzzy on other aspects of the two approaches:
Is a gun trust the only way to go if you want to allow someone other than you to shoot the suppressed gun?
One article I read mentioned that after setting up a gun trust, subsequent purchases would need to bought by the gun trust. I don't understand that.

For those of you have have used either route, what do advise?

Where are you located? I have a lawyer in NOLA that set up my trust and I am dealing with Landrys Guns in Morgonza and Bowies in BR for my suppressors. I recommend all three for your needs.

I've aske this before but I'll ask it again for some new responses.

If I live in LA but mostly hunt and camp in MS, how much hassle is it to take the suppressor with me? Do I have to notify them each time I take it?

When I bought my suppressor I just had it put in my name. The guy I bought it from provided all of the paperwork all I had to do was get a passport photo and drop by the local PD and get fingerprinted (which is done digitally now). I gave this back to the seller and he did all the rest. Paid $225 for the Tactical Solutions suppressor and $200 for the tax stamp. Took about 4 months. It is my understanding that I can will it to my son but he would have to buy another tax stamp.

I have an AAC 7.62 on order. I sent my dealer the money for one he had on the shelf ( ). He sent me back an ATF Form 4 and instructions. I filled it out, including a signature from my a-hole sheriff. I also needed 2 sets of fingerprints and 2 or 4 passport photos. I sent them, and a check for $200 back to me dealer. He looked them all over and submitted to the BATF. Now I wait 4-6 months.

I don't know about the trust thing. I skipped that part for better or worse.
