I think there's a reason for that. He had 1 play - outside runs, because he was afraid to run between the tackles.
WOW! Make up $hit why don't you.

actually, does anybody think our coaching staff DOESN'T assign specific roles to RBs?
I know Ford had the Keiland Williams' role. And the haters said the same things about Keiland, afraid of contact, can't run inside, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I predict Ford will have a good NFL career. He will blow up the combine and some team will give him the chance he didn't get at LSU. LSU is a power back team. All other backs get the Keiland, Ford treatment. Role of toss sweeps only and less that 5 touches a game. Yet those rare occasions they were given the ball 10+ times a game, they delivered great numbers.
Like Miles many on here prefer backs who seek contact like Ware rather than those who avoid contact Like Ford and Keiland. Yet they compain about 2 yards and a cloud of dust. These guys and Miles would hate Tony Dorsett. He'd sit the bench at LSU.

plus ware was almost never used on outside runs
Except on our last drive against Alabama.
And coincidentally, on that same drive, we ran Ford between the tackles.
All part of Miles' plan to throw the unexpected at Saban. He just overdid it.

He was stopped because the opposing defense knows that the play will go to the outside. It's a package specifically for the toss sweep or off tackle play. He has successfully run up the middle before. Looks really good in returns. He's raw, room for improvement. Drafted.

Hill, Hilliard, Blue... I think we'll be ok.

I agree, but he may go very late to a team impressed with measurables. He will run a 4.5 or under at 220-225 pounds and bench press 225 maybe more than any other RB.
Who also averaged 5.8 YPC over his career, showed the ability to return kicks and comes into the league with low mileage and steered clear of trouble in 4 years at LSU. Not only that, I don't recall him complaining about playing time. Ford will get drafted much higher than anybody here seems to expect.

There is a reason why players should steer clear of message boards...the hate in this thread is fricking pathetic.

LOL Yeah, but he can't pass protect....that being the most important attribute of a running back in a league that is increasingly using no back sets or 1 back sets trying to match the RB in coverage with a LB.

you think he can get away with running for the sidelines every play?

Agree that is a cheap shot. Ford takes on the most dangerous position on the team, kick returner, and has numerous high impact plays. Scared guys find a way to fall down or go out of bounds at the first sign of being hit, Ford fought for yardage everytime he brought the ball out. He did improve between the tackles as well. I hope his dreams come true and he has the success he desires.

You mean the way the Saints used Reggie Bush giving him limited carries because they thought he was too small to run between the tackles? Nope. I think some NFL team will use him differently than LSU did just like the Dolphins utilized Bush differently and got tons more production out of him.

Who will come in to run toss sweeps when everyone in the stadium and the opposing team knows that is going to be the call now????!!!!!
Posted on 1/7/13 at 5:52 pm to HowboutthemTigers
Can you blame him? He has too much self esteem to be part of "running back by committee."
To me Michael Ford was poetry in motion running down the sideline!
Michael, best of luck in the NFL!

He won't have much of a future in the NFL.
He's a 3rd down back at best. Who can't pass protect.
He'll go undrafted.
But good luck anyway!
