Is it strictly height and weight? or is it based on a certain skill regardless of size?

Foot quickness, athleticism, length all play considerable roles.

I'd imagine the skill set, like athletic ability, ability to run/pass block..things of that nature..

So it doesn't mean than the guards are always smaller than the tackles. True statement?

both positions have different techniques(guard has to literally keep the dude in front of him while a tackle can wash out the rusher on edge to allow the qb to step up)

Just depends...generally speaking, yes but really depends on quickness and ability to pull, etc

True statement. DJ Fluker, for instance, is projected as a guard in the NFL by some scouts.

I honestly think Les likes putting the most athletic guys at OG because of the running schemes used in the offense.

OT is more about lateral quickness, great balance, and arm length.

Foot quickness is usually most important for an OT. If you cant slide or move well, there's no point in putting you out there. Long arms are another big advantage for an OT. OGs usually are the best road graters. They play in less space so dont have to be near as quick with their feet in pass blocking, but I tend to like to see more of a "mean streak" in OGs than OTs since they are taking on the big boys inside generally.

All in all, very different positions. A great OG could make a bad OT and a great OT could make a bad OG.

It's different in different types of offenses. Generally taller, rangier guys are selected for tackles because long arms are prized in pass blocking. Also, taller interior linemen are tough for a QB to see over.

Lsu's guards are pretty good on their feet. A lot of pulling an sliding. Typically left tackles have the longest arms and better lateral foot quickness. Right tackles are your bigger tackles, because teams mostly run that way. But they've got to be quick too in pass protection. Overall I think lsu guards are generally better pullers and run blockers compared to tackles. The difference between pocic, an ot, and boutte, a og, is most likely arm length, lateral foot quickness, pull ability, and run blocking. Boutte is a mauler, while pocic is better in pass protection ( from film I've watched)

I don't know what they see but I promise Lael Collins could play tackle for anybody.

Collins is our best run blocker. He's a mauler. No need to take that away from our running game. Alexander will come around. If Faulk comes back the blindside will be set. We put our best linemen on the field
