I have heard multiple rumors about Hilliard leaving.

3 years removed from high school. Hill eligible next year.

Rumors are Magee might be transferring too

I think he can be convinced to stay if he's given a clearly defined role or explicit opportunity to earn PT.

Running back is the position at which an incoming true freshman can make the largest immediate impact on a team. Blitz pick ups and screens/receiving tend to be the toughest part...

Agreed, but learning blitz pick-ups is kryptonite for most freshmen RBs. Some never learn. Want to know why we go with the sweep whenever Ford is in? Why Hilliard and McGee don't get as much PT as we would like?

And if they can't pick up a blitz, your QB gets killed. That's why we want any freshman RB to work their way into the rotation. Takes time to learn blitzes.

YOu must be removed from high school for 3 years. After next year he will be draft eligible.

It is amazing how many Rantards do not realize JH33 is draft eligible after next season. There were so many RS threads going into the season it wasnt even funny.

I'm honestly a little worried about our rb numbers. After next year, blue and I'm assuming hill will be gone. We don't know what Hilliard or Magee will do. Potentially, we could have nothing but freshman to use in 2014. Scary thought

I know he's great but it's stupid to lay all your eggs in the basket for a future recruit.

I think this is one of those things that started as an observation and now everyone accepts as fact that this is exactly what they are doing. I don't think its as simple as they are clearing room for LF as much as they had other needs. They could be exposed if everyone leaves which is short sighted. If that does happen, they could look to a JUCO RB, but an issue for next season. I suspect at least one of Hill/Hillard will stay and it will be like Ridley in 2010.

Meh, some of LSU's most productive backs in recent history have been freshman. Justin Vincent, Jeremy Hill, Spencer Ware if he got playing time would have been good, Michael Ford was a solid option, Alfred Blue showed some good play. If you have a passing game and a line that blocks, it will make things much easier.

This really doesn't worry me as much as it appears to worry everyone else.

I still think that it was a bad idea not to take Taylor especially since after next year we'll be thin in the backfield.

RBs are not hard to find in state and they typically transition very well from HS to college. I would not be that concerned about finding the "next" RB.

Fournette is the best running back I've seen in the state since Dominick Davis. He's scary good.
