You can't just call plays faster and see the benefits. The speed at which Oregon runs the offense means that the QB is forced to make a lot of decisions very quickly, up to and including calling the plays. You don't get a whole lot of time to read coverages so you need creative play-calling that will keep the defense on the back foot and you won't have a chance to check the coverage and audible out of the called play prior to snapping. That's why a lot of these plays involve an option, so you can adjust on the fly.

It's really a whole system and if you tried to graft it on top of our current crappy offense you'd just get a crappy offense that spends even less time on the field. For a few scripted plays every so often it would be fine, but to run it consistently would require a significant change in offensive philosophy.

Im not so sure about that. No one is saying we can run Duck O.
But to pick up the tempo when u are in a rhythm with better athletes is worth looking into
