Better movie? The Burbs or The Watch?

When I saw the previews of The Watch I instantly thought of one of my favorite movies of all time: The Burbs staring Tom Hanks.
I just finished watching The Watch. I would have to say that The Burbs is better because of Hanks, but The Watch was pretty darn good.

I thought the same, maybe worse, when I saw the previews. The Watch is far from tops on my list of movies to see. Can you give more detail than it being "pretty darn good"?

If you liked the Burbs then you will like the Watch.
Vince Vaughn, Stiller, and Hill are all funny. I thought it was going to be one of those instances where Vince ruins a movie with all of his over the top improvising, but he held it in check.
I can't say much more without giving away spoilers.

The burbs was great!
The watch was really good too. Too tough to call.
The watch is more of a grown up comedy though.

Agreed. The "weak spot" of the Aliens was funny. When Vaughn is fighting that alien one on one and he takes it out, I was laughing my arse off.

The idea of a comedy centered around a neighborhood watch was awesome. The alien premise ruined it for me though.

Absolutely love the Burbs. Thought the Watch was too over the top with their crudeness. No respect for writing that has to go over the top to garner laughs. Then I saw it was written by that no talent arse clown Seth Rogen and it made sense. Most overrated 'funny person' ever IMO.

The Watch is way funnier

I had no problem with the concept. Aliens, ghosts, zombies, etc. Sometimes the villain is supernatural but it doesn't take away from the humor if done well.

The Burbs. and it's not close.

That's the difference between comedies from the 90s as opposed to comedies from the 2000s. I think movies like Dumb and Dumber and What About Mary brought about a change in the way comedies are made.

Well I see that we will never agree on movies as a matter of taste. You must be older than 45.

34. Just don't care for the guy.

I watched The Watch earlier today. It was pretty good, but nothing can compare to The Burbs. That was one of my favorite movies growing up. I still own the VHS!
