No other top SEC teams struggled with Auburn or Arkansas the way we did. Sure, teams have letdown games every now and then, even the best, but LSU continually plays down to their opponent. Nearly every damn time. I'm tired of it. I should be able to turn off a game against Towson at half-time and be comfortable that we are going to win it. And I NEVER feel that way watching LSU play.

You have a very short memory. Last year we blew out both Auburn and Arkansas, along with everyone else on our schedule except for Bama, and we did beat them at their place. The team played well every week and was as consistent as any LSU team in history. Same coaches, by the way.

You are perfectly correct about the team's struggles this year, but again, when you have a new starter at QB and an offensive line that is made up of spare parts, you're going to struggle....period. NO coach can replace three starting linemen in about two weeks and magically make all the pieces work perfectly, especially with an inexperienced QB and relatively inexperienced receivers. And that's not even considering the freshmen we were starting at LB and at CB. Yes, the machine wheezed and groaned a lot of the time...but we still won almost all our games. To me, that's a sign of good coaching.

To be clear, I agree that the offense has been inconsistent, and that is a problem that needs to be addressed. But it's not the whole story, and given our success without a consistent offense, I would say Miles has done a good job of compensating for the program's weaknesses. But, yes, I wish we could get the offense hitting on all cylinders on a consistent basis. I hope we can put that final piece in place to go with our D and special teams.

As I think I made clear I view last year as a complete fluke for a lot of reasons. But I also don't particularly care what LSU did last year. If last year was the norm, and not the aberration then I'd credit it more but it wasn't typical. This year was typical. 2010 was typical.

Last year was a team with deep flaws on offense masked by the best defense LSU has ever fielded and likely will ever field. LSU did what it was supposed to last year and put the boot down on inferior teams, and I'd like to see that every year, but we're back to the norm this year and I'm sure next year will the same.

It takes a long time to build a program to where LSU is now but only takes a very short time for it to crumble. You sunshine "10 win" pumpers remember this little fact.
