Lane Kiffin took over a program that was supposedly going to die from the sanctions. Regardless of your feelings towards Kiffin, he has done a heck of a job at USC. Once he gets more depth on his roster, and once he fires his dad, the program could be in the Title Race every year as they used to be.
They were preseason #1 this season and Kiffen shite the bed pretty hard

I said before this season that USC was highly overrated. It's just too soon for them to back to where they used to be. They are finally done with the scholarship sanctions. Now, they can continue to rebuild. It can take some time, but they will be back.
