I was trying to say the originals since Houser died have blown incredibly hard. So hard that they hardly ever play any of them live.

Anywho, I think I'm going to change this thread to the Mikey Houser Appreciation Thread.

They don't play them as much because it's not Houser playing them. Nobody wants a wook riot

Are you saying that they don't play the studio stuff since Mike's death live or songs from Space Wrangler, Ain't life Grand or Til the medicine takes live anymore? Because if you mean the ladder you are mistaken

I'm not sure how you got that from what I posted.

The songs that Widespread Panic have written since 2002 are for the most part hot garbage.

The setlists are almost entirely pre 2002 material. Houser material. JB can write lyrics but no one has known how the frick to write a song since Houser died.

They are the definition of nostalgia act.

Doesn't mean I don't still like to go for the party and to see my boys JB and DAS, but they've been going through the motions, mailing it in, whatever you want to call it, since Houser died to pick up a pay check and keep the employees at Brown Cat employed.

2: Disco > Greta > Love Tractor, Sell Sell, Machine > Barstools and Dreamers, Up All Night, Midnight Special

3: Pigeons, Time Is On My Side, Fishwater, Blue Indian > Ride Me High, Goin' Out West > Jack > Maggot Brain > Chilly Water, Ain't Life Grand

E: Driving Song > The Ballad of John and Yoko > Happy Xmas (War Is Over) > Driving Song > Tall Boy

By my count, in three whole sets and a 5 song encore, they played ONE of their post Houser songs and that's Up All Night.

Yeah I agree with you that most of the stuff they have written since 02 hasn't been great but I wouldn't go as far as to say they are just going through the motions during live shows. I've heard many different versions of Houser's songs with different jams and they do a lot of great covers. I believe they are still one of the best live performances to see these days and I won't miss any opportunity to go when they come close to La
