Granted he never lacked in exceptional player personnel, Guardiola made some innovative tactical decisions as a manager. Great managers know how to optimize the talents of their great players.

Benching the Zlatan when it became apparent that a central playing Messi could become the GOAT. Ballsy

Moving a Masia academy centerback Busquets into the midfield to replace Yaya Toure. Decent

Letting Iniesta start out wide and then roam into the center of the park. Fairly astute

Instituting a three man backline with Dani Alves as a wingback. Not bad

The man outwitted Alex Ferguson, the greatest tactician ever, in the Champions League final twice.

pep showed early and often that he'll tell a superstar to sit down, and that is important. i give him credit for that

i'm not saying he can't be successful at man u, just that it will take a few years to get rolling b/c they'll have to rebuild the frick out of that midfield
