I'm driving to Oxford, MS tomorrow. What's your favorite place to eat lunch?

Ajax Diner in the Square....Chicken fried steak, 2 or 3 of your favorite veggie sides...

If not there, enjoy the balcony at Boure' (also in the square)

My sister in law recommended City Grocery. Thoughts?

Anything by John Currence

But my endorsement is City Grocery. Get the shrimp&grits

Also, John Currence has another place called BigBad Breakfast where he serves another version of shrimp&grits with tabasco/brown sugar cured bacon

I agree that Newks has a pretty decent lunch, but this is like recommending McAllisters to a first time oxford visitor.

I would vote either ajax or boure. I've always had a sweet spot in my stomach for boure.

Newks is a chain, so I can't imagine going there over the other places in Oxford.

If you want a nice lunch, City Grocery is your best option by far. The lunch menu is actually more creative and interesting than the dinner menu. My guess is he can't change the dinner menu too much due to regulars.

For a more casual lunch, Ajax, Boure, and BBB (for brunch type food) are all good options.

We are in Memphis visiting family and I saw a Newk's there so I definately was not choosing that. We have the kids with us so we chose Boure. Ajax had a sign saying they were closed until after new year's day.

Would have loved to try Central Grocery. Maybe next time. The campus is pretty.

Bloody Mary, buttermilk battered onion rings, shrimp and grits. Husband got peacemaker, son ordered blue cheese burger. Shrimp and grits were very good and spicy. Loved all the red and green bell peppers and spicy sausage in it. I have leftovers for dinner. I loved the atmosphere too.
