Alx, did y'all hunt that HUGE field on the east side of the road? If I remember right, it's got some crawfish ponds just across the interestate from it? If that's the place, did y'all get those beautiful woods just north of the rice field(s) with the lease? Always wondered about the deer/flooded timber in those woods. One of the prettiest tracts on 49

Yes, that huge field. It was McGraw land at the time, and I had an in-law connection. Killed lots of ducks.

It just so happens that I hunted the woods too, but that was a different connection. Most difficult deer hunting I've ever done. I've been through some thick palmetto in my life, but that stuff is almost impenetrable. Very few natural corridors. Never got a shot, but saw some deer. There were no ducks in there other than a few odd woodies.

Another friend of mine got the rights to that woods later, but he pretty much hunted it alone.
