You can get light 10mm loads that will closely mimic the performance of the better .40 defense loads. Nobody is stopping you from overpaying for things.
(ETA and probably from Corbon, at that.)

I was always told the reason the feds went to the 10mm round was because it didn't possess as much of an overpenetration problem of other smaller rounds,consequently making it safer for other agents who may be on the other side of a perp.

You missed what I was saying. Take a full power 10mm hunting load. Pull the bullet out and stick in a light weight agressively expanding .40 bullet.
Ultimate self defense load???

Virtually all of the heavier loads of 10mm tend to overpenetrate. They went to the 10mm because 9mm didn't work in Miami, either in parabellum form, or sub-magnum .357 (read, .38 +P). The .40 (I'm not saying it's perfect, it is still a handgun round, after all) is a refinement on that - the .357 Sig is (arguably) a further refinement.
The cartridge manufacturers are constantly working on this balance - bullet weight, muzzle velocity, terminal velocity, reliable expansion, "optimal" penetration, to find a good combination that works for various people - and they do a good job. But working with animal wounds is a thing of the past. Gelatin can test some things, but it has its limitations.
We don't really have enough data to judge these things until cops have shot enough people with them - that's the sad reality.

That's just silly - you want to take your overpenetration problem and make it worse? Push a lighter bullet even faster? The bullets are optimized to expand at a certain velocity - I think that's the part you're missing.

Just let the bullet expand more. To point of failure even. Crash a .40 bullet at faster than its designed to go.

They're wonderful guns - there are few in the used market, they're almost never discounted and they're as heavy (or heavier) as a Sig. Having said that, they're absolute tanks and pretty sweet shooters at that.

center mass 10yds, head was 13.
Ill take this all day especially right out of the box, no cleaning, stiff spring / trigger, new gun and having never shot one before.
Plus I am not exactly precision aiming these shots.
The low 4 were all DA shots. Pretty long draw.
I wanted to compare to my broken in p30s

If you are wanting a super fun range gun, get a p30l if you can find one. The recoil is barely noticeable. I laugh every time I start shooting it because it is such a joy to shoot.
This is more of a practice and carry gun and will be my BOB firearm. I have a kahr p9 which is my current carry but I wanted something more substantial at times.

That's a good source - doubletap is almost the name in 10mm factory loadings. Because of its nature, a bunch of people handload them (although I still don't recommend that for a Glock - but that is my cautious side coming out). Doubletap, among others, has really tried to broaden the offerings for 10mm over the last 8 to 10 years.
