There are some pretty good reasons to push the home state school with many programs. LSU is one. Do not underestimate the opportunity for the parents to see their child paly an dbe near his overall college experience. Additoanlly, the state HS coaches develop lines of communication with the state college staffs, which gives the family an independent source of information on how the student is being treated. Finally, if is no secret that the state school networks oftern award the former palyer with employment and business opportunities that will not be abvailable to the student who plays elsewhere.

I think we all agree that the coach has no business trying to overcome the judgment of the parents and the student.
But in the real world, HS coaches are often neither "educators" nor counselors ( nor, for that matter, honest brokers).
Often, they are just former jocks, with some axe to grind...some are even worse.
Weren't we just talking about DeCarlos Holmes?
