Best homemade mashed taters ever....?

So this has probably been done, but it just came to me this year. I was making some chicken stew and also needed to make some mashed potatoes for Christmas.

I had left over chicken stock so I decided to boil the potatoes in the stock, then poured out the stock but left a few inches in the bottom of the pot. Mashed the taters in to absorb the stock then added some milk, butter, fresh ground black pepper, and a bit of salt.

OMG, they were so good. They are always good but that stock made them SOOOoooooo much better.

try that with sour cream instead of milk. My daughters love it and wonder why they cannot make mashed taters like mine. . . .

if it's a chicken stew, then it's POTATO SALAD for me.

I always use 1/2 stock-butter ratio and whipping cream instead of milk. If I have time I'll saute the garlic in the butter and stock before adding to tators to be mashed.
