A BCS bowl win is one of those things you list when talking about your program's accomplishments. After an NC, an SECCG, you are most likely to talk about your BCS bowl wins as they are 'elite' bowl games.

The peach bowl or chic fila or whatever just isn't the same. LSU has very little to gain in this bowl game. I tried convincing myself of otherwise but have not been able to do so. And i consider myself a sunshine pumper for the most part.

I don't disagree. But I don't see FSU gaining much either by crushing N. Illinois.

In the end it's football fans in general who lose having those crappy BCS match ups to choose from.

It is not ideal but a LSU win allows for the season to end on a high note. Beating Clemson is a good win but beating Oklahoma would be a better quality win. I personally thought that Texas am would want to play elsewhere rather than the Cotton against a team that they have faced for years.

Wow! Really? Any bowl win is a good thing. Especially over quality opponent in an area we recruit heavily. Last I checked I think we have players from both Georgia and South Carolina. Let's keep those pipelines open!

A win will end the season on a strong note, with a better record, a higher ranking and, even more importantly, set the team up with a higher pre-season ranking going into next year, and where you start can make all the difference. So seems pretty simple to me.
