they acquired the information illegally with no chain of custody. you really think that's going to be admissible in court?

It's all admissible. Illegally obtained evidence is only prohibited if it's submitted by investigators. If a vigilante group such as Anon hacks emails, they can submit that evidence to the prosecution who can they use it against the accused.

The 4th Amendment does not extend to searches conducted by private citizens so its not really being shite on as some of you claim.

This all is very interesting to say the least. Seems to me when there's smoke, there's fire. At this point, I would tend to believe anon despite their radical stance on the issue. Either way, I will definitely keep up with this thread as it progresses.

different meanings of illegal. illegal in terms of state search and seizure? yes citizens can turn over information that may violate the rules of the 4th amendment. illegal in terms of acquired in violation of a general criminal law? much tougher

plus, how do you establish the chain of custody? is the anon member going to testify to establish the foundation and veracity of the information? how else do we know that anon didn't create these documents when we have videos that he admits to entering the e-mail address, freezing it out, and manipulating things? he could have just planted that information
